Since I have switched from the ceramic coated header to SSI exchangers, one thing has become obvious - the ceramic coating does a great job at keeping the heat in the pipe. after just a few minutes of running at high idle, the SSIs are HOT. The same amount of time with the coated header, and you could lay your hand against the pipe near the rear of the car and not sear off flesh.

If you are using a header, get it coated. It keeps the heat where it belongs - in the pipe not warming under your car.

I wish the technology was around when I had my MGB/GT. It would have made it a much more pleasant car 9 months out of the year.
