It really was a design statement back in the day
So was the Tucker, but it's not on the List
Let's see what else we can name that should be on the List
Lotus Elan
Honda Insight
1953 Corvette
Early MGs
Olds Eldorado
Tesla
PORSCHE 914
All of those are nice cars but, no offense, none of them was revolutionary in any way.
I had few Citroens, including some with the hydraulic suspension. You may make fun of them but that suspension is amazing in every aspect.
Actually a few of these are revolutionary.
The Insight was one of the first mass produce "hybrid" cars.
Tesla is the first electric super car.
The 914, well, come on. If Porsche would have gone with the mid engine back then think how much further they would have been with cars like the Boxster and Caymen.
You guys are so funny!! You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
You think all that hybrid and electric car stuff is new ?!
Here is a quote from a site that documents the history of the hybrid cars.
http://www.hybridcars.com/history/history-...d-vehicles.html 1898
The Austrian
Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, at age 23, built his first car, the Lohner
Electric Chaise. It was the
world's first front-wheel-drive. Porsche's second car was a
hybrid, using an internal combustion engine to spin a generator that provided power to electric motors located in the wheel hubs. On battery alone, the car could travel nearly 40 miles.
Who are Honda and Toyota?
