Have that new store bought starter bolted up!! The mounting flange on the starter is thicker than stock starter and does not leave much thread for nut to thread up on, dont want to go TOOOOOO tight on the alum. The top nut had no lock washer[need one?] The wires????? I had a hot start kid with the old starter, dont think I need it now BUT where does the wire off the wiring loom go? on the new starter? Big red wire gos to starter lug[done that] another press on wire gos to selinoid[spelling] But the one from the loom was matched with one off the hot start kid then to the starter. Bob

Put a longer stud in the case. Use a 10mm wavy washer on both starter bolts. Split type lock washers are bad news when used up against aluminum.
Wiring: Battery and alternator wires with the 8mm ring connectors go to the post on the starter. The YELLOW wire from the loom goes to the tab that energizes the solenoid. That's it.
Be aware that some of the "HD" starters have flywheel engagement issues. Listen carefully when operating the starter. If it sounds bad, it may not be the solution for which you hoped.
