So what do think of my home made console. I'm thinking of carrying it thru to the dash face.. No, I don't know what came over me.

In addition to the wood dash faces, the dealers & other aftermarket P-car suppliers also sold a turned/machined aluminum dash face (excluding instrument pod face in all cases), which went a long with the L & R threshold/inner long & driver's footrest pieces. So it's not out of character from "back in the day" - if also not CW purist! 
FYI on original accessories - my buddy's original owner 71 1.7 had been set up with the rosewood dash face & aluminum threshold pieces by a buyer before him who backed out, in pix below -

(it's really Bahia Red, but my cellphone camera is off color)
He's said he'd have preferred the turned dash face & driver's footrest pieces too, but never got them to change out.
