I have this friend with a 914 and despite reading numerous warnings not to play with the odometer reset knob while the car was moving he did it anyway. chair.gif

The good news is the car doesn't accumulate any more mileage. The bad news is the car doesn't accumulate any more mileage.

Didn't Dave D. have some repair procedure for this posted somewhere? I seem to remember reading it on dgi.net back in the day.

As usual, any help for my, um, friend would be appreciated. rolleyes.gif

Check the "bird board", there is a good article on how to remove the speedometer and R&R it. Sounds likes your, um, friend is experiencing the classic failure that the procedure describes.

I haven't tried the process yet but will have to since my trip odometer is frozen!

That is a good article. It's tedious but with a little patience you can do it.
