Running carbs on a 4cy is there any need to keep the relay board or could it be replaced, with something cleaner and more modern.

What I know the relay board does.

1. Voltage Regulator for alternator (could I make a custom mount for the voltage regulator?)

2.Rear Window Blower (not used)

3. Heater blower realy (not used)

4. Fuel pump relay (not used in my application of switched and fused pump)

5. Fuses for blowers and pump (not used)

Comments?

Have you done it?

What does it require?

Any adapters for the regulator?

Had you ever consider that in an accident you'll forget or bee unable to switch off the pump?!?! It may pump fuel over a ripped wire that might just ignite it!

Always have a relay that automatically shuts off the fuel pump!

Actually, if you remove the FI & ECU, how does the relay still work?

So how would someone setup a relay that knows when the engine is running? Interesting challenge....

I guess one way would be to have an oil pressure safety switch that activates the fuel pump.
You would just need a push button bypass for refilling the carbs if they ever ran dry.
But the car would still start without the pump running.

Here you go:

The fuel pump will run when you turn the key or there is fuel pressure.
Just use any standard relay.
