I'm going to put in some Dyna-Mat & maybe instal an Engman Fusebox

Ian Stott
I'm cleaning up the engine compartment while waiting for my new (rebuilt) relay board. Routing the wires etc. to where they are supposed to go, installed a grommet where one was missing, and then I am going to play pool in a little tournament we have going among co-workers, I am in first place! gonna take my backpad off if I have time and clean that area.

Still working on the brakes. New master cylinder bolted up yesterday - watta PITA. New soft and hardlines on the front just about done. If I get lucky I'll start on the rears this afternoon.

Only labor on the 914 today was taking the cover off it. biggrin.gif

Took the car (and my better half) out for breakfast, then a nice 50-mile drive through the Yorktown battlefield and an out and back on the Colonial Pkwy.

Oh--and I guess I'll have to put the cover back on it when it cools off . . . .

have a good one!

I am adjusting my rebuilt rear calipers & bleeding my brakes. I also need to put on my newly ceramic coated muffler. Put in some interior pieces. Put my rear wheels back on. Then I am driving.gif this sucker for the first time in 2+ years. I can't wait evilgrin.gif

I'm going to help my oldest son on his house for awhile today but later I will be cleaning up the car, checking nuts and bolts and getting ready for the road trip to the RRC.

Just bolting seat belts in and going for a drive up hwy 12 before the motorhomes come home today. It is a beautiful 65 degree morning, blue sky, and open road. Next week is repair the last rust, then new ss fuel lines!
VaccaRabite
Nope. I may be laboring on the truck this afternoon though.

It's Labor Day in Southern California and it has been thundering and lightening since early this morning. Its raining off and on. I ain't doing jack but waiting to see the sky so I can drive it. WTF.gif

A couple weeks ago I took the -6 out for some excercise. Got 50 ft down the road and heard a GRZZOUNT and a tablesaw-like BZANG! The fan just chewed on something. What the... confused24.gif Did I drop a socket in there? A couple days later the olfactory kicks in. I've got an ex-rat. Took the engine out to get the critter out as well as fix a couple oil leaks. Hopefully re-install today. Word to wise - if you're running headers close off those heater ducts!

Put on my new Triad muffler....what a great sound.
Now I need to weld up some sheet metal so I can take it out on a the road to see what it sounds like at the upper RPM,s.

This muffler sound fantastic at idle and in the lower range...I am hoping it does not whine like the bursch (cherry bomb) setup....btdt and took that one off after the first drive.

What a nice sound this triad has, and while I cant recommend it just yet without a few drives at different RPM's, it sure sound promising.
Nice low loping sound..deep a throaty....hope it does not ever find that harmonic balance...I hate mufflers that do that...it always seems to hum at highway speeds..

Now, gotta go find my welder...see if my boy ran it out of all consumables and tack the targa wing in place so I can drive a round a bit.

I am putting my Windsheild back in so I can drive it when the rain goes away.

Started removing paint & surface rust on the 74 project car. Got the drivers side front fender down to bare metal smash.gif . Looks good, but did find a small hole about the size of an eraser head down where the rocker cover would be. Nothing major piratenanner.gif

I'm finishing my fuel system today. I'm using Tangerine Racing SS lines in the tunnel, but need to bend up steel lines to connect them to the Suby in-tank fuel pump, and to bend up the lines in the engine bay.

I also hope to finalize the hydraulic clutch piping, and to bleed my braking system that I finished last night.

Gonna be a scorcher today, though...

I labored to strap my son's car seat into the 914, then drove it to a Labor Day auto show in Clifton, VA.

Despite some impressive company - lots of muscle cars and hot rods, a few exotics, and at least 2 other P-cars - my little well-worn Fourteen garnered lots of attention!

I'm packing up the garage between intermittent fits of apathy. It's frustrating, so much time in the garage staring at the car, and can't do anything with it.
mark21742
Worked on mine til about 5:30 this morning.....I finally got my new windshield frame fabbed up and mounted ( 98 Ford Escort front glass) I LOVE the new look it gives the whole car! I did a lot of cutting on the frontend and started on the front tube chassis.....now I'm back out here staring at it trying to decide what to do next lol

Setting the rear suspension on the Sixer, adjusting the throttle to get more travel, and eliminating oil leaks (2). Drink some coffee and otherwise putter around the garage. Need to get the Sixer painted and ready for Parade in 2014; next to it sets the Alfa I need to get torn down, cleaned up, and back together for Alfa Romeo Nationals in 2013.

Boy, do I plan for the future!!!! Above tells you how fast I work: slow or slower; turn seventy in a month and I am still enjoying working on the cars. Gets kinda cold here in Flagstaff in the winter so I am really slow at that time.

Hope everyone has a great day.

1. Remove bumper tits and plug holes. Repaint as necessary.

2. Replace sail vinyl and trim.

3. Clay bar, buff, polish and drive.

Surprisingly, I'm already nearing the end of step 3!

Life is good!

Today I decided to add forced air to my brake ducting on the front of my 6.

Recently, I made some manifolds and added some ducting to my front brakes to give some fresh air cooling. Then, I bought a pair of 3'' duct fans to give it some force.

Today, I took the time to make some fiberglass molds for the inlet and outlet.

Then glassed up a 3''inlet on the rear of the spoiler, then put it all together.

I did get one side done today.

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Finished cleaning and waxing the front trunk tank area. Rear shocks painted. Marine cleaned and Metal readied the gas tank, pulled off the blue brake lines and resevoir... That 37 year old brake fluid, looks like mud. Reinstall tomorrow.

I’ve been dealing with other projects today. As far as the 914 the roof is off, the iPod is charged and I’m just waiting for the sun to set.
PanelBilly
Someone had cut a hole in the front trunk for what it think was going to be a fuel pump relocation. I made up a metal cover and painted it the color of the car. Installed a volt meter out of my blue car (stealing parts from it again). Fixed the turn signals (2 wires were reversed). Cleaned the rear lenses up. I'm counting the days till next Sunday's show. Not so sure I can pull everything together yet, bit what the he'll, I'm going to keep trying.

Ron (pcar916) and I replaced the trunk hinge bracket, got the rear glass ready to install, replaced front pads, and got the axle nuts broke loose to replace rear rotors/pads....much more to do on the teener.... smash.gif

After some deliberation, I finally got around to painting my front trunk lid satin black to match the rear decklid. Couldn't stand all the rust bubbles on the lid anyways. While that dried, I managed to pack up all my tools to get ready to head off to school. Let the fun begin....

Pulled the tank today to put in the front sway bar...

Went for a drive Saturday.

Today, pulled the car out of the garage to go for a longer drive. Noticed fluid where the left rear tire had been. Looked under car to see brake fluid dripping off the caliper. Pulled back into the garage. Closed garage door. Had a beer.
914itis
Installed all rails and windows, door handles, chome trims around the back window, (now black) and tail lights.

Blocked beat and banged the rear deck lid today to 80 grit smile.gif piratenanner.gif 3 of 8 panels

About all I got done was organizing the garage and some parts for when my car gets home from the shop in a few days. Plus, some party-ing...
Daiberl
Looked at the 914, took the 450SL out for a 30 mile drive, and worked the rest of the day on getting the 911 ready for Jerry (jmmotorsports) to pick it up next weekend and paint the car.
JStroud
Worked on mine all weekend, pushed it out of the garage, sandblasted the trunk, under the trunk, and the engine compartment. All cleaned up pushed back in the garage ready for some primer and paint.

I need to go back to work so I can rest up for next weekend.

What show are you going to? I'm taking my car up to Stanwood on Saturday and I think we're going to head up to the Edmond's car show on Sunday. It'll be the first time I've ever had my car at anything like that. Hopefully I get some time to buff and polish this week.

As for today, I finally got my deck stained after procrastinating/running into problems for a year. But no work on either of the 914's. Tomorrow should be a different story now that the deck stuff is out of the way though.

Got my Momo seats installed. It took a fair amount of seat rail fabrication.

Started getting familiar with my oil bath air filter... I am still trying to convince myself they are great. Also fighting the guy on my other shoulder who says to get rid of that old thing and use a modern filter setup.

I pulled the driver's door panal to fix and or replace the lock and handle mechanism - found out that the inner screw that holds the latch in place some one used was too long and screwed right into the lock mechanism ruining it! headbang.gif
so now i need new key and lock combos - the outside lip that bolts down snapped off so i replaced it with one who's handle is not as nice but will bolt down into place, - no key as i bought it second hand here with no matching key-
Anyone have a key with key mechanisim- matching for both sides?

oh, - after that i polished the outer edge of my rims with mothers' aluminum and mag polish(empi 8 spoke black with polished edges)

then tightened my targa top latches, - would not pull in tight, -

played with the idle setting, - replaced a bad connection on the coil- my tach would just twitch every now and then, car even died once - a bad connector to the coil i think(coil is brand new,)

then sent my son back to college , - took the wife and daughters shopping dry.gif

Then driving.gif went for a drive !!!! -

- - did not get the brakes bled out- need that done before the D.E. in 2 weeks- Robeling road- savannah!!!!

I added a CHT gauge. It involved making a new panel for the center console so the 4th gauge would fit. I'll add pics this evening. I drove it and temps were averaging 350 (assuming the gauge is accurate, but after reading @ ratwell.com they gague may not be accurate(his web page won't open this am))

Big news, I actually worked on my car this weekend...it's a miracle, haha.

I took off ALL the heater parts, exchangers, and muffler...to sell and am all ready for my engine drop this coming weekend. Felt good to actually get out there and take some stuff apart!

Once it's all out, time to clean up the underside of the chassis and get busy prepping for the conversion!

It was suggested by another member that I do the dash face also. So I thought why not. The face piece is 3.5" x 48" nominal. So I cut a piece of .032'" aluminum 3.5" x 50" to be trimmed at completion. The jig is relatively simple. I used a 2 x 4 (which is actually 1.5" x 3.5") with some 1x2's attached to the sides to act as a guide. The interuption between the edge guides is to allow for the 3M wheel to hang over the edge of the aluminum sheet. The wheel is a 1" wheel. I'm over lapping 1/2 diameter, hence the 1/2" spacers. So the outside rows get the wheel placed 1/2 over. If you don't you end up with non-finished areas on the edge.

The jig is supported on one end by a 1x2 on the wall and the other end attached to the drill press.

Notice this nut. On the top is a bevel head mch screw which pulls into this and holds the jig in place.

These lines are the 1/2" spacing required for the horizontal rows. Once you complete one row then loosen the screw, relocated the jig to the next line, re-tighten and continue onto the next row.

Next I placed the face piece at the point where the wheel fit 1/2 way over one end then attaced this stop block.

Then I cut up a shit load (appx 100) of 1/2" spacers or gage blocks. These are then added or subtracted, one at a time (depending on the direction you are working) for placing your work piece. If your not exact it will end up looking like crap. Ask me how I know.

Next phase will be "cut and trim to fit". I'll post that in the next few weeks.

Washed mine and drove it to the parents house for a BBQ then built the bottom end on the CRX.
