Do I need to support the drive shafts/CV joints when I plan on having the engine out for an extended period of time?
I dropped/sold my 4-cyl and don't plan on having the 6 in there for a while.
Thanks,

not really, but I hang them up with bungies connected inside the engine bay to the back somewhere.
I also put plastic bags over the ends to keep the dust out.

I hang them up as high as I can get them with wire or zip-ties before removing the engine.
Makes it easier and less likely to hang up as you lower it.
Otherwise, they can hang as long as you dont need to roll it.
The bag is a good idea for WHEN all the bearings fall out when youre not looking ;-)

Depending on the boots if they hang it will bend the metal reinforcement band and always bag 'em.

I say remove the old boots, clean and regrease.
You need something to kill the time till your new engine is there.
