Wondering how the 8s fit in front and what Tire Size are you using?

With factory flares: I have 951 (944 turbo) 16x8's in front with1/4" spacers and dropped spindles (225 Hoosier A6). 16x9's (911) in back , no spacers (Hoosier 245 A6). Fills out the rear completely, front no problem.

I have 3-pc BBS's and Fuchs with FG flares.

Front: 225x50
Rear: 245x45

The wheel offsets are different so I have to run different spacers for each set... bit of a PITA since that changes occasionally with new tires I haven't run before. I ran 255's in the rear once and they rubbed so badly I turned around, took them off, and sold them immediately because they were too tall. If I could have found them in 255x35 or 40 or 265x30 or 35 I they would've been ok.

If I go wider in the front they will rub either inboard or against the flares no matter which spacers I choose.

No rubbing with ' glass flares. But 8" is close on the fronts when turning.

edit: BTW - this is for a track car. I ran 225's all round on 8's on my blue flared '75. No trouble with slow turns or parking. (man up! )

I ran 16x8&9's on the 914ST for a while. Tossed them because 225's in the front were just too much tire. Steering by "arm strong".



This is the 8 and 9 combo (not the 914ST I know, but the same rims I ran), I later tossed the 8's on the back and got new halfs for the 9's to make them 7's. I then stepped back to 205's in the front and 225's in the rear. Much, much better. Sometimes more tire isn't better, it's just more tire.

This is the Deal - I bought a Pair of Rotas 17x9 Frosted (RSR Finish) and I'm going to run a 16 in the Front ( RSR Finish)

I have 2 Pair of 16x7 ( One that needs Finishing) and one Pair that the finish that matches the 16x8s (Gloss Black) in the Rear right now with Spacers.

I was debating which to run in the front, thinking the 8's would be better, but I'm going to upgrade the front suspension (Poly Bronze Bushings, 911 Turbo A-Arms, UnderBody Bar/Aluminum CrossBean) and I think that now the 16x7s in the Front would be better.

That way I would have 2 Complete sets of wheels for the car ( at Least )

I think it depends on how much horsepower and weight I'm carrying. With the 2.7L engine the rears could be narrower. But with the 3.6L the extra rubber and an LSD keep the wheel spin down a bit and I'm planted better.

If you want to borrow a pair to test fit, I could let you borrow a pair..

I have standard glass flares on the 6 conversion, and Ronal 8X16's on the front.

225/50X16 fit fine.

A lot of rubber to turn at low speeds. My back is already testifying.

I have the Richie Bontempi FG flares. They seem to be the same width as the GT flares.

Street:

Front: 225/50/16 on 16x7 Fake Fuchs with 12.75mm spacers Bridgestone SO-3
Rear: 245/45/16 on 16x8 Fake Fuchs with 12.75mm spacers Bridgestone SO-3

Track:

Front: 225/50/16 on 16x8 BBS e50 Toyo RA1
Rear: 245/45/16 on 16x9 BBS e50 Toyo RA1

No rubbing. I have never run smaller tires on the front so my arms DO NOT know any better. It is fine on the street, but after a couple of hours of track time, my shoulders get a bit tired.
