I'd been expecting to use a RAT cam on my rebuild, but when it came down to final selection Jake chimed in that he doesn't really recommend his cams for that small a displacement (http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=146186).

So now I've got the weekend to pick a cam. My builder was planning to use an Elgin. Looking through his catalog there are 2 decent choices, the 914 & the 330-1. Anyone have experience with either of these?

Others I should consider? This is a daily driver, street use only. I'd like good drivability in normal rev-ranges, fuel efficiency and power are of course desirable.

Only 1 914 engine I ever did had a cam from some where other than Elgins but I always just called and told them what I was building and they sent a cam that worked good.
