Full Version: Steering Rack Spacers anti-bump steer

Has anyone installed a 11-14mm steering rack spacer after the car was lowered, if so how did you do it.

Thanks for your replies, here's the problem. When the bolts are removed from the rack the rack cannot/won't move up high enough to get the spacers in. Does something else have to be loosen up to allow the rack to raise up high enough for the spacers to fit in.

Had them on my 911 (has the same steering rack)
Install was nothing special.
Basically you just replace the old bolts with the new (longer) ones and add the spacer
Just be carefull not to crossthread the threads in the aluminium steering rack

simplified version: remove old bolts, install spacer w/new longer bolts..

and make sure the new bolts have exactly the right length, if too short, your rack will fall apart, if too long you'll crack the rack ...

10 minute install with car on lift and a bunch of "mechanics" sitting around watching you sweat and making fun of you ...
