Now I get to tinker with it with not having to drive to the shop.

Orangina waited patiently under the tree for the Dark Knight to appear.

I want another 914.

The next one should be a street conversion.

I need more parking space.

Thank you THOMAS and Jonathan!

I cannot describe how much I am crazy about this car. I will probably blow it up, but I don't care. I will keep it running to keep my sanity.

John

John,
That looks wicked! Even with the mismatch panels...

Get some photos of the front trunk, Interior, and engine bay. I want to see more of that thing!

Hello Thomas

I will take more pics tomorrow afternoon. I have a few things to do today.

Dash is not done. Speedo out for repair at Al Garcia's.

Maybe I should wait till next weekend?

Then the car will be totally done.

Car looks good. For some reason I really like the black doors, hood, and trunk. Looks sweet.
avidfanjpl
Thank you, Brett!

I so do too!

Maybe I will never paint it? I am thinking of a wrap.

Wrap for a track car makes a lot of sense.

Paint just gets chipped.

Me too, I think it really adds to it....plus I've always loved satin black anyway smile.gif

Wraps are very popular these days, especially with guys who want a 'Satin' finish. Plus when you're bored, or no longer like the color, you simply take it off.

I, on occasion lay, vinyl and have had a few shops call me about doing it.

Hey, Orangina looks a lot like a former co-worker's car. Is she a 73 that had A/C at one point, and did she spend much time in the SF Bay Area?

I like the shaved lips on the targa bar. I'm in the process of doing that to mine.
avidfanjpl
No, Dave.

Orangina was a garaged weekly drive for 35 years in the NW since purchased, according to what I have from the PO. OO Porsche mechanic sold it to SO in Portland in 2007. Garaged there for 2 years, then I got it in 2009. Never had air.

Tom Trischler figured out that it was built in August, 1972, and it was the 336th 2.0L made.

I have changed almost everything unboltable on the car. New trailing arms/brakes/rotors/clutch assy and a tranny by THOMAS will be going in this winter.

The car will have had almost everything possible replaced, then I will buy those stainless bumpers in 2012.

Then, I will drive it until I blow it up and rebuild it and have it professionally repainted in Signal Orange someday. There are some touchups, but it is 90-95% original paint.

Thanks for asking!

John
Mike Bellis
Wait until after 12-21-12 to buy your bumpers. They will be cheaper after the world ends... biggrin.gif

Hey Rand,

THOMAS did all the major bodywork with Dan and Joe Sharp throwing a hand in down at the beach over the last several years, but THOMAS packed up and moved back to the Fatherland this past summer.

I have the build threads, but they are on here if you search THOMAS.

The car was cut by THOMAS to redo the right front quarter as well.

Who cares? The Dark Knight goes like hot snot.

(BTW - I was offered a newly redone 2.4T long block from one of the 911 Gruppe founders as a spare at church yesterday. I am thinkin' on it. I would probably put some kind of FI on it just to see. Will start a thread on that if I buy the block. The car is so light being mostly fiberglass that 3.0 or larger may be a waste of power. 2nd and 3rd gear are wild............need a long run to get to 4th!)

And Rique,

I will get a quote on the wrap late this week. I have 2 up here that want a crack at it.

Thanks!

Don't let them give you any guff about any 'difficult' parts on the car, save for the cowl. It should be an easy job.

Back at the Mitty this year, we were paddocked next to some friends running Cayman Cup cars. They are all wrapped in vinyl. I ask about the price of the wrap and was told $6K. That is crazy. Although they did look really good. I would do a wrap for my race car if I could afford a reasonable price on it, especially for a race. Otherwise I can paint it for pretty cheap.
avidfanjpl
My wrap quote came in at around 1K, as a favor to me. Also, because the request is all solid blue color. NO patterns. My CHP neighbor used to do them, so he asked his old boss for a favor on my car.

I have to see what the second price will be. To hell with a pro paintjob for a track car. And if someone tries to rape me on a wrap, I will paint it myself.

If I do get the wrap................

I will have them do 2 wide white stripes and white number discs when I get the final PCA number for the car, probably not until after the 16th.

Cannot decide on Red or Blue. Just a solid color.

John

I find your lack of pics disturbing.....
avidfanjpl
The pics were posted on an earlier thread. Search for Citizen Stealth.

That should prevent the Tatooine destruction.

Can you start CC's just by using your hands at a distance like the little kid in the VW commercial??
