That looks great. Did you take any pictures of the process?
Krieger
Hey wait a minute there was nothing there a minute ago. I do like your work now that I can see it!

No I probably should have!

I measured the other side and did a rough outline of where it went.
Then I cut out the middle leaving enough metal to work with.
Then I cut slots in to the edge of where I thought the bend should be.
Then I started bending and comparing each piece until I thought it was close.
Then I welded each slot into the new position
I ground down the welds and welded again as necessary until it looked smooth
Then I used files for the finer detail and emery cloth to finish the cleaning

It just has a rough coat of primer now! first.gif

I don't think that Krieger could see the picture at first, if you read his second post. It's all good. beerchug.gif

I need to figure out to get my tips to fit up a bit tighter to the valance!!

beerchug.gif Nice job guy's. I had to do the same thing, sorta. I had to change my single to double wide. The p/o had just jammed the new exhaust w/ 2 tips side by side under the fairing. It ain't that hard to work with though.
Cairo94507
Jeff that looks nice. I like seeing them with the rear valance on. W/O it the car looks a little unfinished back there.

One word... wheelie.

I believe that is the factory-recommended solution. I am sure that the Cap'n will chime in.

Hey Jeff...looks great!

If 2 tips are good then 4 tips are... chowtime.gif biggrin.gif

Looking at my photos makes me want to get moving on the back dated bumpers! Those are ugly bumpers!!
Cairo94507
I much prefer the early bumpers too. No offense BUB guys.

That's what she said...

Nice job! I need to do one of those myself. I was going to do it the same way. No filler in that? Even better.
Tom
Here is mine with Triad.
Looks like you could use a lower valance, is there one? Will that muffler turn over? Nice job!
I need to smooth mine out and repaint the valance better, just hated the look with no valance.

Hey Jeff, That looks great. That's what I was thinking of doing for mind. I have a real nice rear chrome bumper, we could make a deal, I think Lennie has seen it, but come by and take a look. John driving.gif

I made my own valance. Not a twin tip though, just one tip. I like the look of a lower valance as I think it makes the car look lower and find it matches the look of the side rocker covers better. I was worried about the heat retention of it being lower so I thought it would look good with cutout panels in it. The mesh panels are the same mesh from the engine lid grille. It also hides the boxster muffler completely. It will be painted satin black like the front valance and the rocker covers.

Thanks John, I think I have a good rear bumper but I am looking for a nice front one!

Once I do the conversion I will decide if the rear is good enough for me!

Lennie and I spent some time watching the 3.0L run tonight!! We brought it up to temp and tested everything we could. It sounds awsome but still has a mis and an oil leak at the tensioner feed line. It looks like the guages I purchased are not the right ones because the pressure and temp didn't have the proper sending resistance! I think that they changed the guages in the 1983 engine and the guage I have is an earlier guage!
