Needed to clean up the outside of the gastank before repainting
and bought a cheap ($10) Chicago Electric angle grinder from
Harbor Freight.
Worked great until I noticed things were getting coated with a
coat of black grime. This stuff is gooey and won't come off
with Fast Orange, alcohol, soap, or even liquid detergent. mad.gif
It got on my air hose, the extension cords, and my left
arm. It has a very "oily" smell.
Since it is heavily concentrated on the back of the angle grinder
and the power cord I'm assuming that it is some sort of
lubrication inside of the angle grinder. It must have turned to an
areosol form and spewed out the back vent of the grinder.
Then all the black dust from the paint stuck to it.
Made a total mess on the garage floor. - and of course this was on the wifes side of the garage. headbang.gif
I had to get the garden hose and an old mop and do some serious
scrubbing.

While I was taking a shower I accidently found out that my wifes
"smell good" oil disolves this stuff. w00t.gif

I think I'm going to try some marine clean on the air hose and
cords.

Anybody else ever seen anything like this?

ordinary paint thinner or mineral spirits will take care of it.
