I have been having a little battery problem. It seems my car will slowly lose its charge over time. I will put the car charge on it once a month and everything is fine.

I searched on PParts for a past thread and found something CRAZY.

It seems the solenoid should have all wires connected to one ONE side? Any one have a photo of this? I have been driving my 914 off and on for almost a year now. (well only 5 months minus winter).

Maybe this is why I can't keep the dam thing charged. I put a multimeter across the battey and it seemed okay.

Cheers

Hmm??

There are three connections on the starter solenoid. One is where the yellow wire from the key runs to. It has three "flag" terminals on it; all three are hooked together, so it doesn't matter which one the yellow wire is on.

The second is a stud on the back of the solenoid. The red (charging) wire from the alternator and the FAT black (usually) cable from the battery (+) post both hook up to this one, with a nut threaded on to hold them on.

The third is a little tougher to see, usually. It tends to get covered up in crud. It's another stud on the back of the solenoid, and it has a braided strap that hooks onto it from the starter motor itself.
