I am about to remove tranny to replace input shaft seal. I recall reading here or somewhere that gear oil can also escape from the pivot bolt. What should I do to seal it if I find it has been weeping?
Is there a seal or O ring of some sort? Or do I use RTV?

I used black RTV. If you have at least a few threads holding it in it should be ok.

I've had good luck using blue Loctite

Leaks from this area are most often caused by people putting too many shims/washers under the pivot ball in an attempt to compensate for an out of spec flywheel. The more you cut the flywheel to reuse it, the more you need to move the pivot forward to compensate for the removed material. If this is the case, remove all the shims and get a new flywheel. They're expensive.
