I can't remember what this was for, maybe the hatch springs. I want to remove it to mount the regulator.

Can I use a chisel between it and the body? I don't want to massacre the engine bay.

thanks,

Yup that is what it is for. Drill the welds out and it should fall right off. Chisels and hammer will really screw it up.

Thats going to be alot of holes in my newly painted trunk. sad.gif

Maybe I can just cut it off an leave the small plates in place.

when he said "drill the weld out" he meant using a spot-weld drill bit. wink.gif

no holes. take a cutoff wheel to the *hoop* and cut it out, then use a spotweld drill bit on the spotwelds.
should come right off without holes in the trunk.

Drill the spot-welds, or take an angle-grinder to the loop. You'll need to touch up the bare metal parts regardless of how you remove it.

OK, I get it now. idea.gif

I was going to put the regulator and fuel lines at the forward bulkhead but then I realized that the carbs are much closer to the rear bulkhead. Will keep all the fuel lines nice and tidy to the rear of the bay.
