I finally made the leap....going to go big. Here are pics of my new engine....we'll actually used new engine.....
1995 3.6. 38K miles....it cam with the brain, harness, stock exhaust, cats, a/c pump, and heat shielding. I should be able to recoup a small amount of money to pay for
by selling this stuff.
I also sold my 2.7 liter race motor. And my built 901. My WEVO conversion kit is on order with Hayden. No turning back now.....
~300HP with chip and headers on pump gas....no more race gas...no more carbs to fiddle with....I'm happy....
Here's a few pics...

Hi Trekkor,
No problem about the ride....hopefully I'll still be young enough to drive by the time I get it back in...
I've got alot of plans for the car.....
I'm bad......

thanks guys!
I'm excited....I can't wait to tear off the unneeded parts this weekend and start detailing the motor.
One thing I noticed....there sure are a s--tload of wires on this motor harness compared to running carbs....
I'll need help from the board later as I get closer to wiring this thing in....
Just thought I would warn everyone in advance about the future questions I will have such as: "where does this wire go?" or what does this wire do?"...
yikes....I don't want to think of that right now....
hey....the ups guy is here....what just made it to my door?....
I'll be back....

Make room on the shelf for a lot of these
I'm 90% happy for you and 10% jealous (or vise-versa).

Nice. Glad to see you pull the trigger. Randal was gazing at the 95 3.6 I have on a stand in the small shop.

I don't know if you use that same airbox when you drop it in a 914, but if you do you should drill some holes in the side of it. gives you a nice subtle throaty sound. this is essentially the "motor sound" option from porsche.

It will be interesting to see how this thing fits in the car....I don't see using all of the airbox....there must be a high flow unit that I can use the takes the place of it. I had one on my 930.....
I'll be pulling off most of the stuff to clean up the engine...I want it clean and fresh before it hits the road...

Thanks John,
I don't know this motor will be in auto-x, especially if I gear the car for the track. But we'll see....
It sure will be different having torque. To tell you the truth....I did enjoy keeping the 2.7 spooled up....the sound of webers wide open is SWEET!

Damn, that looks big and complicated. I venture you just moved up a couple of classes. Good luck with the install. You better keep a close eye on your suspension ears and trailing arms with that much torque. I tighten the bolt at the ears before every event and I've just got a lowly 2.7. Your gonna lose weight if you keep biting bullets.

Hi Andy,
I don't know what class I'll end up in. Truth be told, I'll be continuing to run PCA Time Trials with my wife and the club track events that we run with the Local track clubs we belong to.
My dream is to run with the PRC someday if I get good enough. My wife lets me do alot of things, but running SCCA currently is not one of them
She's concerned for my safety
As far as bracing the car, it will go to Tony C for bracing needed to make it safe, reliable, and fast.
Over the next 6 months or so, I will post the evolution of the car.....

Is that the 2.7 I spy on the pallet next to the tranny?
What am I thinking
....Like my restore isn't going slow enough already!
Congrats on the motor!!

Hi Kevin,
You've got great eyes! Yep...that's the 2.7. I am going to finish wrapping it and securing it on the pallet this weekend. It is being picked up next week by the shipping company that the new owner contracted with.
After that is done...I'll put my new motor on the engine stand....and have room to park both cars in the garage again!

Bill,
I will be following your progress reports closely. Can't say much yet, but may be following a similar path! Torque is a good thing

Yes, definately keep us up on how well or tough the transplant is. At some point all 2.7's will bite the dust, and I know a few tail draggers that need to gain some 914 respect.

WOW!
WOW!
WOW!
That's all that's in my vocabulary right now!
WOW!
And to think I was excited over getting & installing my 2.0 from a 1.7. I can't even imagine the excitment you're feeling.
Good job there Buddy

Hi Rob,
Thanks!.....by going big I'm definitely done for the year...but I'm hoping it will be worth it. The lure of HP was too much for me to take....
It will be interesting to see if I'm still competitive in Auto-x with the extra weight of the motor and the 915 tranny....

Lets spend Bills money !! here we go children.. follow along...
Bill,
1. Call Clewitt for the front lower pulley that removes the stocker.
2. Call Robbie at S-Car-Go for the billet block off plates for the power steering pump.
3. Call me for the short version of the wiring harness
4. Call me for the clutch package...(or step up to the WEVO 5.5 setup)
That is fun.
