what parts do u need to take off to install a radio. never done it before and just bought a new one for my porsche 914. thanks guys.

depends on what is in the hole already. If it is an older stock knobbed radio you will need to remove the plate cover. It is held in place by a single screw near the glove box (IIRC) and partially hidden by the dash vinyl. Check under teh dash and you should be abble to access the retaining screw for the stereo. If it is already a single DIN unit just pop it out and replace the mounting brackets with the one supplied with your new headunit. You will then have a single DIN hole ready to accept your new head unit.
