This car's point was to be "simple 914," or "essential 914" — looking like nothing has been added even though there are 30 visual tweaks. Started life as a 1973 914 (1.7, we think) that's been in my family since 1986 and in my care since I was in high school in the early 1990s. Didn't look quite like this back then...but this is where my Porsche road started out.

Gotta say that, if I was voting, I'd vote for Six Not Four, but then I've always been a sucker for GTs and GT replicas...

#3. Love it. Couldn't help but notice that it's missing a shift knob in one of the pics, though Seriously though, the car is fantastic, and all of the contenders this month are beautiful.

We have so many outstanding 914's here. There isn't a looser in the bunch. I seconded Pete's car, and absolutely get the concept of the build. This car is my idea of what a retro euro custom is. Subtle custom stylizing tastfully done. The car draws you in. But I have to cast my vote for my fellow MN guy. Freshly finished ground up Grand National V6 conversion. Black on black, no nonsense raw power, no compromise. Hey Paul, post some build photos and engine shots for us!

I cant decide between Horiz Opposed and 6not 4….. cripes. The detail on 6not 4 is fantastic. But there is something so perfectly vintage about the stance/tire and wheels on horiz opposed. That red looks fantastic as well.

Not sure what to do! Either way, huge kudos too you both. Absolutely the cream of the crop.

I gotta ask what size are the wheels and tires. They look different than the normal 15x6s you normally see..... Looks like a nice ride on the older style tires... kind of like a Cobra, just isn't the same on low profile tires.

I had the exact same inner monologue.
I love *LOVE* the tires and stance on H.O.s car. Vintage cars should have slightly bulgy sidewalls. One of the things I want to do to mine is lower the rear end a little to that my rubber is more tucked under the fender.

That said, when in doubt I go with the green car. I'm biased. What can I say?

Wow, I just realized that I had never noticed sixnotfour's car doesn't have any side windows.

If you have ever seen the green nasty bitch in person you know the unique detail on this car, it is not shown in the pictures shown. The door handles are drilled out for christs sake!

And jeff doesn't leave his nob out unattended for others to play with

Shift knob was a fubar on my part I was going to put another nicer one on and got side tracked and forgot untill CA. Tried to buy one from HPH but $125 for a pretty good one didnt fly, when I have a couple back home , so I just did without.
As for side window's I have curved plexi , The weather was so great at RR4 we didnt need them anyway.
i have 245/50's on 9's in the back.

Voted for horizontally opposed, though was torn between that beauty and the green metalic one.

My nomination and vote of course went to Pete, horizontally-opposed.

I think his car's classic retro look encapsulates "914" perfectly. The fact that hes taken more away from the car than he's added visually is a great tribute to the 914's simplicity and peerless design.

The deletion of the antenna, side markers and rear trunk lock are what stood out to me the most.

I'm not a fan of red cars, but the paint on his car absolutely pops.

I'm not sure if any of you have dug into his build thread, but I will you to. It may just change your mind about voting for that absolutely beautiful GT car or rnellums awesome ice green metallic car.

Tires are 185/70VR15 A-008Rs on 15x6 "deep sixes" refinished by Harvey. I will try to get some pics of the details, as my car has benefitted from trick pieces from various member vendors (Eric Shea Brembo brakes, Engman long kit, GTS seats with a few trim tricks and heat from Camp914, etc.) and then a few tricks I've come up with on the interior that are kinda neat. Also, a big box just arrived from Rich Johnson...

Seriously, I think it'll be hard going up against SixNotFour. Now that is a seriously cool car. Even with the unfair boobs/brats advantage.

As if "sixnotfour's" car was not the coolest 914 I have ever seen he would still get my vote for everything he has done for me. The orange car that Curt so nicely posted above, and you all know as the runner up COTM , wouldn't have been half the car without his help.

For those that have never seen Jeff's car it is really something of a treat to see

Its funny how atleast half of the pics on here are from the last Rennsport ( or Monterey)... I've seen horizontally opposed's car and SixnotFour's car, they are both very nice examples of 914's!
