What carbs were installed on the European 914's at the factory?

All 914-4's were fuel injected.

Nope. The euro 1.8L cars came with carbs.
If i'm not mistaken, they had two single barrel webers in a similar setup as the VW 411.

I thought they were the 2 barrel Webers used on the 1960's 912s, but I could be mistaken.
Maybe a Euro 1.8 owner could speak up on that.
BTW - that was only the 74 & 75 MY 914-1.8s in European market & maybe some went to Asia or South America too.

You can see what they look like in the Haynes 914 repair manual. They have the carb model in the fuel section.

The parts manual also has pictures of the setup. I actually saw one myself many years ago in New Hampshire, so they definitely do exist.

32-PDSIT-2, -3 on Type 3s...dual port head
34-PDSIT-2, -3 on Type 4s (boxers) 411- 412
different type of single throat Solexes on Bus
and upright configurations...I forget the type designation.
