Im going to make a new dash for my 911, I figure Ill form it out of foam, then vacuum bag some carbon fiber.

Whick foam should I use? which is easiest to shape?

I guess Ill use a surform plane to rough it out, sanding it to its final shape, filler as needed

When you do this make sure to take pictures along the way. This sounds like something i might want to do down the line.

I've used stuff I found at A. C. Moore craft store. It's that white crispy stuff used for arts and crafts. You can buy it fairly cheap in big sheets and blocks. They have a contact cement that works pretty good to glue chunks of it together. It cuts real easy with a small keyhole type saw that was right in the same aisle. Sands easy too. The fiberglass resin I used over it didn't eat it but check with a small piece first.
