I'm making a center console that will need upholstering, and of course want to use the correct texture vinyl. Someone posted a link to one of the vinyl's on the Pelican site, but I can't find that post. Pelican offers 21 different upholstery vinyl's, so if someone can direct me to the appropriate one(s), I would appreciate it. BTW, this is not for a concourse correct car, so a generic vinyl would be fine as long as the texture is close to what's used in a ('75) 914.

Thanks,

Andys

I probably want to stay with Pelican or A&P, since they're local to me.
Thanks,

you want material, order from those who have it.

World Upholstrey, Auto Atlanta, Autos International and Stoddards tend to stock all the old materials they can get their hands on.

Of those, the first two are you best bet.

Kate Rehder at Global Upholstery Supply Tel:(714) 708-2220, has a perfect pattern match for the floor vinyl, which is for pre-75. That one is Article 36, Black BMW. She also sent what I believe was a Porsche or VW sample which would probally be better for your application. Pattern was quite close, and the vinyl seemed more durable. aka, not as soft, so I suspect not as prone to scratches, etc. 75 pattern is different anyway, so I'd suggest going with that. All were German import. Very reasonable. $24 a yard which should be more than enough for what your doing. Samples were $5.00 each I think. She might recall what she sent me if you ask for her on the phone. Samples were lost or I'd send them out to you.

I used to buy stuff from them, but I understand (perhaps wrongfully) that they don't sell to the public any longer. Were you there recently?

Truely an unbelievable source. I was in awe of the choices, huge warehouse; virtually anything you could and couldn't think of.

+1 on Autos International - ask for Augustine. They are the best when it comes to porsche restoration upholstery...
