Full Version: 2.0 Replacement NAPA Fuel pump

I gave up on my original fuel pump and decided to go with the Bosch pump from NAPA identified in this thread.

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...p;hl=napa++fuel

However, the supply nipple on the NAPA pump is HUGE (it looks like it would take a 10 or 11mm ID hose). How do I connect the supply line to the supply port of the NAPA/Bosch pump?

Also, with regard to the return lines that T into the stock pump, I was just planning on taking the T out and connecting the two lines with a straight connection. Is that correct?

A professional hydrolic hose shop can fix you right up with an adapter

You dont need an adapter. The proper 75 filter has the same size nipple on one end. I think its 12mm. Napa has it.

Yep. 12mm between the filter and the pump inlet. That's how they came stock.

This will solve you an other problem as well: the very expensive short hose from the filter to the pump. Just buy the filter with 8/12mm ports and use a short single size hose between filter and pump.

My current fuel filter has the clear supply line (from the tank) attached to the input side (which I believe is 9mm OD) and then the black rubber output line that goes straight to the stock pump, which is 7mm ID.

Based on the suggestions above, I have looked on NAPA for the filter that has a larger output nipple, but all I can find is this one, which has threaded ports:

Can anyone direct me to a fuel filter that has the stock input port (9mm OD) and then the 12mm ID sized output?

I used a 3/8" to 1/2" nylon barbed hose adapter that I bought at ACE Hardware. You could use a metal one too.

Obviously I am not a CW.

This is the filter I'm talking about. The original 914 one was similar except that both ports were the same size.

It looks like that one will do the trick. Thanks!

That's NOT true. You still need the 9/7mm adapter hose, because the inlet of the filter is 8mm and the outlet is 12mm. The inlet of the pump is 12mm, the outlet 8mm. This has been discussed here numerous times.

We were discussing the large end of the pump, which is 12mm, and the large end of the filter, which is also 12mm. No adapter is needed. Now its true the other ends are 8mm and the hose is 7mm, but that is another discussion.
