They're always, always, "your item" over and over or " Porsche 914 Front Struts, 1973-1976" over and over, but they never switch to a more casual and natural abbreviated description of what you have for sale and they never ask a decent question because they don't ever read the listing.
I always answer them with a very hard to spell name and a convoluted very long address just to waste their time.

here is another version ....

Hello! let's do like this, actually now I'm not in town for now, I
came to visit my son so i wont be able to meet with you to see the
item but am ok with the price as seen on the advert, I'll proceed in
issuing a Check out to you and when you received the check , I will
make arrangement for pickup. So get back to me with below details
asap.

Name:
Address:
City:
State:
Postal Code:
Phone Number:

And as soon as this is provided, the payment will be overnight to you
and i will let you know when its mailed out. I need you to be honest
with the sale as I am a God fearing person.

Thanks

and another ...

Thanks for the prompt response am quite satisfied with the condition. Am very much interested and i am really okay with the item and i will love to make an instant purchase,so please do withdraw the advert from Craigslist and considered it SOLD to me,I will add $40 to the purchase price, for you to hold it for me.I would have loved to come take a look myself but i am a very busy but i'm okay with the item. I will be paying you by Cashier Check, It will take 2-3 days for the payment to get to you, it will be sent via courier service due to the distance.

You don't need to bother your self with the shipment okay, i will take careof that,so i will need you to provide me with the following information to facilitate the mailing of the Cashier Check, so that I can have my assistant get the Cashier Check ready.

1. Full Name to write on the Cashier Check
2. Address where payment will be sent to not P.O BOX (b'cos my courier
service does not deliver to p.o box)
3. City
4. State
5. Zip Code
6. Home or cell Phone Number

Once again ,I will like you to know that you will not be responsible for shipping i will have my mover come over for the pick up as soon as you have cashed the Cashier Check.
Thanks!

I love how they end the scam with "God Bless" to admonish them of any wrong doing...almost like a pay it forward trip to the confessional! happy11.gif

Nicky
Obviously shady, but what exactly do they do with that information? Can't you find a full name, address, and phone for just about anyone online?

And what happens with the bank check deal? Your bank cashes it for you, but later it turns out fake and you are out? Is the bank not responsible once it's cashed?

I just don't get it, lol. Who falls for it and what they could do anyway?
Cairo94507
NO! The bank is not responsible for the check once it is cashed. They will debit your account for the funds and you are out of luck.

These piece of shit scammers should be hunted down and have their fingers cut off one by one - seriously.

Thanks for sharing. I almost fell for a scam on a 928s4 that was too good to be true one time. Glad I didn't do it.

I used to get those all the time. I act interested and tell them to send the check to this address:

Special Agent Stedenko
FBI Headquarters
Internet Fraud Department
935 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, D.C. 20535-0001

All of the responces seemed to stop. confused24.gif

Yep, these are all over the place on cars.com and autotrader. I've been on there, just was looking at a couple 928's, and some Jag XKR's,
one in particular stood out. - it was too good of a deal, and the "owner" of the car claiming to be a female arm soldier in washington now in alaska, going to Afganastan, will ship vehicle etc etc.- i reported it to autotrader, ad is now gone- it was one picture, a stock photo, or one stolen from a site like World etc.
-I e-mailed back saying, hey i have a military e-mail- if you are for real, email me from your official email - they never responded back of course!!!.

I dont use my email on craigslist anymore. I put my phone number on the bottom with some words instead of numbers and leave that as the only contact. Works good. No Spam.

In Nashville,TN that works out to the MOVERS showing up , cleaning your house out cause your not home. This has been happening to apartment dwellers a lot.
