Beautiful car... That's not Florida is it?

Thanks! No, its north georgia. Back up there for a while. Richard B Russell Scenic Highway. Somewhere down there in the background there is a mad man at work.

I installed a splendid new fuse panel from Jwest, made plans to reverse my incorrectly (by yours truly) ring gear in the transmission, and bolted up new front and rear valences after Shutzing them. Progress, citizen!

Got my 1911 w/ L-jet running!!!!!! This is a pretty big improvement over my tired 1.8L. This motor has lots of torque and pulls and pulls smooth through the entire RPM range! I love it! driving-girl.gif driving.gif

Dr. Evil Trans shifts smooth too! Thanks Mike!. aktion035.gif

Also thanks to everyone who helped me troubleshoot my F.I. Especially tim_nd! first.gif beerchug.gif

Another 914 is on the road for years to come. piratenanner.gif

sawzall-smiley.gif Cut out a section of a trunk floor from a front clip while at the G&R (thanks Ron), blasted some dirt and surface rust off of it, and set it aside until we start working on the front suspension rebuild. We'll see if Milt is game for more welder.gif on the 'BB'

Blasted and painted set of long lug bolts smile.gif

Also, bought a brand new set of E-brake cables cheer.gif

Preparing for surgery on my clutch-side knee (5/23) sawzall-smiley.gif ... sad.gif

Good luck with that surgery Mark!
I made some fiberglass rain hats, after seeing the price for them from various vendors. I used a meatloaf pan. My mom was not pleased.... biggrin.gif They will remain that bare amber fiberglass. I love the look.

I also fab'd up the turn signal dividers and light sockets to make the euro front lenses work as they should.

The center caps turned out great, want to share how you masked/painted them???

Love the look

Since the site was down I find myself driving my car more and more to help with the addiction. I carpeted the rear trunk, Re-timed and added the 270ohms resistor to my CHT.

Sure. I just used some etching primer followed by some engine enamel, no masking. then after about an hour after the last coat I scratched off the raised portions with a piece of plastic (can't scratch the cap).

Another method I heard of was using a cue-tip dipped in paint thinner to remove the paint while it was still wet, but I didn't have any. My way worked well enough, and passes the visual test for a racecar at least.

Replaced Rear Shock Springs, Stainless Brake Lines, and Bleeders. Got 100 lb. springs from AA which were on sale plus free shipping. Got them in one day! AA gives great customer service. Raised rear up almost one inch which it needed bad.

I decided to check my new ramps on my trailer today, backed the 914 out of the garage....... Huge oil puddle ( hasn't been leaking at all), drove it up the ramps, ramps worked great, checked under car while half way on trailer, oil was coming out of the bottom of the fan housing.... headbang.gif

So today I parked my 914, and will be pulling the motor this Sunday, instead of autocrossing that I already registered for headbang.gif

On the bright side I have a new 2056 sitting on my work bench, and McMark is putting together my new microsquirt FI system, but that's a whole other thread...coming soon.

So for now its back to driving the boxster.

and I dig the door / spacer braces!

I didn't want the body guys to weld anything to the chassis so they made brackets that bolt into the door jamb and upper door bolts. They used the 75' bumper shock mounts to make brakets to bolt to the front and rear.

I power washed it once i got everything off of it...I rotated to on it's side to get all the water out...just had a big grin on my face watching in sit there rotated 90 degrees from the ground.

I installed my hot-spark ignition, no more points, I hope. will time it tomorrow.

What started as a starter swap, ended in pulling the rocker panels off. Something I've never done, and somethings that didn't look like it had in a LONG time. Didn't want to see this:

So I cut it open, cleaned everything up:
IPB Image
and then welded up the patch panel:

The passenger side was perfectly clean, which really didn't make sense, but there was twice as much dirt in the driver side, which probably was the cause of the cancer. the 914 lives to drive another day it would seem.
Mr.242
Added some new shoes to the 914-6 build. Nitto-Gen tires 205/50/15's with some custom painted & polished FUCHS. biggrin.gif I also wired in the tail lights and locked in the rear wire harness in the proper position.

Ethan, think about getting some of that Eastwood Internal Frame Coating and spray the entire length inside the longs to stop that rust (and in the center tunnel if needed).

This Stuff

I sprayed my tunnel area, but I still need to inspect and [probably will] spray insides of the longs on the 'BB' before reinstalling the rocker panels.
JStroud
Pulled the motor, fixed an oil leak, installed new motor mounts, fixed some electrical, bled my brakes, put the motor back in, went for a test drive, cleaned it up, packed it for tomorrows AX school.

Not a bad day.

Cut, bent, and test fit some seamless tubing for a new clutch cable tube, accelerator linkage tube, and a hand throttle tube inside the center tunnel. Test fit the new SS fuel line from CFR.

spend about 5 hours putting things in totes & boxes and cleaning up the detached garage so I can now walk around without tiptoe'ng through boxes, trailing arms, brake calipers, etc.

Christine has been sitting for a couple of months since she has decided to start only when she feels like it. Seems an electrical gremlin in the ignition switch. Today I uncover her, flip the switch a few times to get the fuel pump all primed up. Turn the key and she fires up immediately, so I took her for a ride. driving.gif Sure going to be a sad sad.gif day when I dismantle her into a mere parts car then on to a roller.

Lennie and I built an oven from an old hospital incubator and used the Harbor Freight powder.

Lennie did some research and we turned down the pressure and appplied it slower with multiple layers. It seems to be a smoother finish than before!

Bottom portion of inner longs are gone. Some prior PO added an outer clamshell which is decent shape. And some prior PO did alot of patching to weld the floors to the inner longs. So I am rebuilding the bottoms of the inner longs, then an Engman kit will cover everything.

Wow my door's finally close...

Sort of 914 related ... got my nephew to help install some plywood onto the ladder-type trailer ramps. I'm positive the winch will appreciate this small upgrade, as well as any car attached to it's hook.

Also bought the 911 shift boot and they are extending their previous offer to 914World.com members of a free shift knob. I got the polished shifter and the small round polished knob. They will be making their way to Scotty B's.

My nephew found a 2.0L '6' under a cover whilst helping us clean up around here. At 33 years old, he's finally taken an interest in automotive mechanics.

We removed the muffler, clutch, flywheel and most of the tin, then hoisted it up onto a stand.

Disc is worn and glazed but the pp and flywheel look OK, just need a bit of TLC. Rear seal isn't leaking, but we'll probably replace it anyway.

The plan is to do some general clean up, check and replace any seals as needed, adjust the valves, go through the carbs and finally, blast and paint all the tin. When done, this will be going into my old '67 911.

It's been quite a while since I took a '6' apart ... what tool works on this nut? (nothing in my toolbox seems to work) dry.gif
