i fitted the replacement 200 degree oil temp sender to replace the 150 that i put in first.

prepped the inner frunk floor for a blow over to sort the chips i've caused since painting it first.

i got the seat belts down from storage for a first inspection since stripping the car. they were a bit grubby but are washed. one thing i need to figure out is how to refurb the chrome clips as they have a little pitting on them.

Starting to dig in on my late 80s Corvette engine that I am going to hot profile cam and trick rockers and Holly FI.

Bought a stand and next is pulling off the aluminum heads as some grinding is necessary to clear for the new hotter valve geometry. If I stay stock in size it should put out 400 FT LB if I bore and stroke to 383 it should put out a lot more. The Holly can handle 600 HP and the factory 930 LSD transmission can handle all of that.

I was told that this Engen is new everywhere and I will find out.

Ordered my John Langfelder book on building a hot stepping GM 8 and also bought a couple more on SBC building.

I have built a few 911s, a couple of 914-4s and more than a few motorcycles. It has been a long time. My thinking is screw it, I can do it.

I decided to sell my 350 V8 and buy a fresh brand new 383 with 525 HP. It will come dyno tuned and broke in with the Holly FI on it. They say Plug and play. I have plenty of work to get the 930 trans mounted and on and on.

I fought this too, trying to get them not to cross over or caught up in the mess of other stuff in the tunnel. I finally got my youngest daughter out to help. she loves going to cars and coffee and riding in the 914 but has not really worked on it with me so at 14 I figured its time to get her involved! we fought it for a while , I finally lubed up the front firewall grommet and when we got that thing to line up and slide thru she was so excited she gave me a high five! but these are a struggle for sure and in the end I don't think I could have done it myself with out bending something.
Glad its done
but OT all I did on my car this weekend was order more parts from 914rubber.com!- got my new rechromed front bumper but was unable to install it - spent the whole weekend helping our son move from apartment to his first house- back to the 914 tonight!!

Nice, Travis.

I had to pass on it due to the shipping cost (which seem to have really increased lately) ... even with my FedEx business account! dry.gif

Twin exhaust on my 914-2.7 SIX conversion is so low that it scraps on my steep driveway at home so I fabricated these little 2.5" offsets to raise it a bit.

Not as easy as I had thought..but got them done. A little more deburring and I hope to install soon. piratenanner.gif

Still need to tweak the carbs, and some other cosmetic things on him.

Not a 914 but tried out PlastiDip antique gold on Linea Corsas. A lot of masking involved and you have to get the tape off while the paint is still wet. The good news is that if you screw up, it peals right off.

Looking forward to seeing the pix, Joe. We're just finishing up with that here too, but went with R30 in the ceiling and R13 in the walls of the den & front porch remodel. The den didn't have any insulation, or drywall - only had 1/8" paneling on the walls screwy.gif

I bought 3 other sail trim sets that didn't meet my expectations so I paid big $ for these but I'm happy now.
I have bought from them on and off and like 914Rubber " Great packaging and customer service. They even called me with shipping status. Who does that anymore.

I painted it myself Oscar. Finally learned how to block out panels. Sometimes the results were stunning, and other times they weren't. But overall I'm pretty happy with the paint job.

I took Elwood out and drove him today. I realized the tires are starting to feel a bit iffy, so I am going to have to get new ones before the trip. So when I finally find the Mahle gas burners for him, somebody will get new tires when I sell the 16x6 fuchs.

I spent the day fixing a pulled stud for the oil pump on Frody (Betty's car). Pulled the motor, pulled the tin and fan housing, pulled the engine support bar, and the oil pump.

I had to heli-coil the holes in the case for the studs. Found a pump gasket in my stash, but had to print and cut out the pump cover gasket.

It is back together, but I have to fix the power leads on the chassis harness where they attach to the battery and mount the ECU.

Betty cleaned and repainted the front valance for Elwood.

All in all a good day.

Rob (Robnoxious) drove over today to pick up a relay board...however before he got to my house his car wouldn't start at a convenient store he stopped off at near my house.

So I drove over there and we ended up having to push start it and took it to my house where I removed his starter and I installed my known good starter motor. Still wouldn't start until I wiggled the wire going to the solenoid.

Cleaning up the garage right now, hope to work on the 914 tomorrow for a few hours.
