Saw the mistake on my GT engine grill. Laughed at myself. Now I'm going to have to fuck it up better somehow. Maybe porch.
Laughing at one's self is great therapy - I wished more of the world's population could do that.
I had some extra letters and spelled P O S O R S CH E on my decklid for short time

Did some tail light work. Installed new white seals on lens. Put on 914Rubber base seals and dropped in Spoke's LED conversions.

My wife & I took a drive down to OC to pick up some nice powder-coated and re-plated front suspension parts from Dan (proto31) on Sunday
... and I had purchased a nice P-C crossbar from Jonathan (hwgunner) /GPR a few years ago ...
... and will be picking up a pair of freshly P-C late strut housings from Bruce in the near future.
Pretty much have everything else needed to perform the front suspension conversion to late specs. I'll be purchasing the remaining list of items from Eric at PMB tomorrow

It's technically not mine anymore, but I did help load it and some spare parts on the enclosed trailer today. On its way to a new owner. Bye, 914!
Bye bye love Bye bye happiness, hello loneliness I think I'm-a gonna cry-y Bye bye love, bye bye sweet caress, hello emptiness I feel like I could di-ie Bye bye my love goodby-eye There goes my baby with-a someone new She sure looks happy, I sure am blue She was my baby till he stepped in Goodbye to romance that might have been Bye bye love Bye bye happiness, hello loneliness I think I'm-a gonna cry-y Bye bye love, bye bye sweet caress, hello emptiness I feel like I could di-ie Bye bye my love goodby-eye I'm-a through with romance, I'm a-through with love I'm through with a'countin' the stars above And here's the reason that I'm so free My lovin'…914 been sold from me.
Ordered new 'late' front calipers, as well as new front hard lines, and F & R soft brake lines from Eric. I already have a couple of new ATE M/Cs, as well as a new one from 914 Rubber ... I'll decide which one to install down the road.
Also, having Bruce whip up a pair of powder-coated 'late' strut housings. I'll soon have all the parts on hand to convert the front suspension on 'HOWARD' to the late specs
I'll be listing a front pair of early ATE calipers (freshly restored by PMB) in the classifieds shortly, as well as some other early front suspension parts

Oooohhhhhhh, the front trunk / hood hasn't been on in almost three years
Looks great. Does the engine grille need some paint or is that the sun brightly reflecting off of the grille?

We are a sick bunch.....but new version SICK! We are SICK!! But even that is so yesterday now.....and doesn't mask that we are very sick people.......I have met many of you and I do not stand out as being completely insane....so the big blue triangle fell out of my heater control......six months ago....go to fix it and it is slightly curved so not a 100% super fit which we all want. Used heat gun and weights to flatten it for best fit.....thought I burned it (probably did) but looks ok.....still kinda' blue at least.....now only a sick person would do that...eh? gg

Finally replaced the cracked, repaired, damaged, re-repaired, cracked again . . . front air dam. I got this piece several years ago in a 914 Rubber group buy. The fit and quality are excellent.
I replaced the rear bumper top on Elwood yesterday evening.
Found out that the rear bumper is slightly bent on the left side. It's a factory six rear bumper, and it is original, so I don't want to replace it. Anyone know a place to get it fixed?
Recieved some new front shock inserts that might get me banned from the sight. Got desperate and bought KYBs....sorry, tired of spending money on a car that I am taking too long to get on the road.
I did polish some emblems after dinner so I can get them out on Tuesday. I have another order going to Germany this week and I made a few extras since I don't plan on making anymore for at least a month. I plan on doing some long awaited upgrades to my mill and I have to spend some time on my car or it'll never get done...I tried to put a full day in the garage today until I was dragging my feet and talking incoherently to the wife... Trying to get the pictures to post correctly from my phone. Well I got one right. The other one gets removed when I edit to add a corrected one.
I was so bored Saturday that I actually drove my 914 in between rain storms. The little beast LOVES the cool air, and it was dripping water a bit when I put it away, but I had to get my fix.

Assembled my steering column today with the 914 rubber clam shells and the switches I got from Mark Epstein.
For some reason the right stalk is very very close to the steering wheel.. No idea why. Click to view attachment

Mounted the end caps, overlapping each layer about 6" on the nose. Got 5 layer's to go, hopping that is enough for the cones. Oh, I forgot, more sanding.
I think I'm done. Actually, it's more like starting over.
9 months ago Elvira went in for a motor rebuild. After that, the 'while I'm in there . . .' phenomenon took over. It started with a restored speedometer. Then new battery, tires, brake rotors and pads. Replaced throttle, clutch and speedo cables. Cleaned, tightened or lubed everything I could get my hands on, etc. Not to mention removing the rear wing and replacing the front air dam. Pretty much anything I could find to do that needed love or money.
For the final step, I hired someone to detail the car. Wow. She has never looked or ran so excellent.
In honor of the occasion, I stumbled across this hoodie on eBay. Click to view attachment I $hould be good for the next 20 year$.

Have to admit I've kind of neglected the 914's lately but will take the red '73 to C&C this weekend... Finishing restoration on a '72 911... always wanted a long hood to join the 914's! And it matchs my '71 nicely.Click to view attachment
