I cleaned off the oil and paint from my 911 3.5" Boge struts. Lots of surface rust that I need to take care of on one.

Any paint recommendations?

I just did mine a week ago. I used VHT Rollbar & Chassis paint. I like it. Sorry the hat isn't on in this pic, I'm waiting for new inserts to arrive.

Posted a picture of Carreror's new front wing bracket in The Paddock. Coming along nicely. Because of the way this came out I have changed the way that the gooseneck is going to go around the bumper.

I will update my build thread soon - making progress on reconfiguring 914R to be more street-friendly / less cop-magnet. Last weekend I finished stripping the race graphics and worked on the pedalboard area (painful). Have some new streetable tires on order now and thinking about seats.

The hood is sitting high and I'm not sure how to improve that. It's a super light GT f/g lid with a replacement hood seal pushing it up too much. I need to check where I sourced the seal and determine if it's correct.

Mechanically it's running awesome and I love the Dansk I put on recently. The trans needs work however, TBD.

It was a PITA to get the car started as I let it sit too long and it's colder than usual out. I had to pull the air filters off so snapped this.

We always had that issue with glass 911 hoods. The glass bends at a constant radius unlike a steel hood that has more of a fixed bend.

Yep plus this lid is very flexible (balsa GT type) and the seal is literally pushing up on it hard. I don't really worry about it #becauseracecar. The bumpers are f/g too and never will align 100% perfectly or look factory up close, but I could get 'em a little better as well.

PCA, I would have to have a roll bar for the SCCA. I'm trying to watch my weight. I get 2 points for the none stock areo for valence. Who knows what they will have to say about the wing.

Nope! I'll definitely at least keep doing some time-trial events with it - I just want to be able to drive it on the street again for club/C&C events, and am changing a few things up a bit cosmetically. Resisting the urge to tear the entire car down and rebuild it from bare tub...must resist...

Took the '73 to a local C&C a friend puts on this AM, then went to another friend's garage for a tour. Lots of great cars, but this 100-4 ( a real 100M) was my favourite. Worked on the v-nose trailer. It's been 6 years since I bought it and just now getting around to converting it to multi-purpose usage. Not being relegated to only transporting PORSCHEs and motorcycles, but outfitting it for camping and a bug-out shelter should the need ever arise.

Almost finished with the kitchenette framing that I started yesterday ...

Next on the list: wall treatment, build cabinet doors & drawers and the counter top, then installing all the required accessories (solar panels, charge controller, batteries, fridge (already in), microwave oven, stereo, DVD player, TV, water tanks, heater, A/C, shower/toilet, fold-out beds etc.).

The bed platforms that I installed earlier in the week (that are currently being utilized for temporary storage) and the shower stall will be removable, or fold up against the walls to allow the original purpose of the trailer to be maintained ... transporting PORSCHEs and motorcycles shades.gif

Well there ya go. The welder paid for itself. Just remember that the metal should be really clean for flux core welds. Turn your wire speed down just a bit or the temp up a bit and you'll get better burn in and your welds will lay a little flatter. Keep it up. Practice makes perfect. beerchug.gif

I just want to clarify one thing as it's the welding instructor in me. Heat for welders are amps. Amps is achieved through wire speed with the correct potential setting with the voltage tap..

While waiting on the rotisserie for my 75’ I decided to remove the bumpers and go full on home chrome on these here bumpers on the 73’. Couple rounds of bondo, 220 grit and some tender loving care to smooth em out then hit them with etching primer and krylon chrome and clear coat. Fun project and impressed with the results. Why the hell not.

Worked on brakes. New front rotors, flushed and bled fluid. Good hard pedal. Went out to bed the rotors but I got interrupted. Then I heard the right bearing. Quickly headed back. I think I got the clamping nut on too tight. Will fix that asap. Also adjusted parking brake per Eric Shea's excellent instructions. It's a little better but needs more attention.
