Cked wheels that I bought on 914world a year ago. Warped. All of them but one of the 5. Cast wheels are not a great thing. Only for an art project or rollers in shop

Finished cleaning the last of my parts fro my Dual Weber rebuild in the ultra-sonic parts washer.

Touching up roll cage & reinstall after all new interior.
Replaced seat rails with race adjustable & grade 8 bolts.

Stripped & repainted the hellhole from PO's silicone mess.

Repainting the rear firewall engine side.

In the middle of a progressive carb to L-jet conversion. All parts on hand, new FI harness fabrication nearly complete, pulled fuel tank and having it refurbished (lots of rust inside). Removed carb and manifold. Need to remake ignition harness. Next: Clean and paint runners and plenum plus get started on ignition harness. Pictures to follow.[font=Comic Sans Ms]

hmm.. maybe I have things arranged wrong but the HF welding cart causes my welder to lean back (shelf is angled)... which makes the hoses interfere with my gas cylinder that sits on it tank platform. DRIVES ME NUTS!! just make the shelf flat!! ... but it was cheap rolleyes.gif

The top shelf tilts back on mine too, but you can drill additional holes in the front vertical supports if you want to mount it flat.

I rolled it out front across the grass to get the 140 out of the back of my truck, and rolled it back the same way. It didn't feel wobbly at all. Just assemble with the hardware loose-fitting on a flat surface, then cinch it all down and it will be level, straight and plumb. The first screw stripped over-tightening it, but there was a spare in the bag ... I just made sure not to over-tighten the remaining ones.

When I get a gas bottle, I'm going to cut-out an appropriate-sized hole in a piece of thick wood and place it on the bottom shelf for the bottle to sit in, and cut a semi-circular wooden upper support ... and I'll use some ratchet-straps to secure the bottle, rather that the supplied chains.

It was a 'pre-owned' welder, fresh out of a repair session - got it from Kent ( @76-914 )

Took it out of the garage for a spin this am. Interesting thing is, I have not started it since the return from the RT66. The Clewett system is flawless if used regularly. If let to sit for a couple of weeks, it will not fire up on first revo. It takes a 15 to 25 second turn over to fire. I am thinking it related to oil pressure - not ignition.

Been a while since I fired up the old girl ,usually try ever month but life gets in the way, started very cold blooded and spat and farted for a short time then came right.
Really think this is a strong engine but the future is more carb work and timing setup as I think my dizzy is 1 tooth out, I know it can run better but have no time to do it @ the moment.
Really enjoyed my time tinkering, will find time to do more as it takes my mind off the house reno work which is wearings me down.

Removed the upper and lower dash pads today as well as the vinyl. Still working a few other things but, it all gets the car that much closer to being a finished product.

The upper pad tore as I was pulling it out. 40+ years in the sun will do that I guess. Also ended up breaking the bezel around the gauges. There were cracks around all of the screw holes so, it was inevitable but, I got a replacement on the way so, that's good.

I posted a few more pics on my restoration web site http://www.2002and914.com/809/

Took out the old torn up stock seats (one had a horrible upholstery job)

The carpet just fell to pieces in some areas and the paper covering the heating tubes just disintegrated when touched. There is more rust on the floor and at the bottom of the rear firewall than I thought.

For now I just might leave as is , throw in my new-to-me seats and deal with it later on in the winter.

Installed a Ecliptech shift light between the gauge cowl and the windshield. I have one in the 997. I set the first light to come on at 3,000 RPM and do not go over that until the oil is hot, especially in the 997. Then I have it really flash at 6,500 so it is helpful and both ends. Good product. No affiliation.
