Installed a hitch to tow my 914 trailer with my v8 conversion. It hides behind the license plate when not in use. Copied Mike's install to a point. It feel good & solid & is beffed up a little more underneath. I'm going to give it a try. Luckily my 914 trailer can't weigh much more than 600lbs.

Got new Kumho's on the front on Wed, rears go on as soon as we can find some roller wheels for Jonathan's 914. Getting the front end alignment and headlights aligned next Tues. Working today on making an adapter for the seat rails, to mount the Monaco seat. I feel like I'm all thumbs. blink.gif Waiting for the drill battery to charge up now.

Drove it to breakfast with some PCA folks. Stopped at Parts Heaven - they wanted $100/side for 944 seat belts. At that price, I'll give it a little more thought and risk getting nabbed with just the lap belt that's there now.

Then when I was finally getting around the working on the car, the floor jack starts dumping fluid everywhere. Great, I really wanted to shop for a new floor jack... dry.gif

Helps to see other cars coming in from media blasting, getting new floor pans, and firing up for the first time in a while, though. Thanks!

Went to a PCA breakfast drive in with my wife and saw two other 914's. I was able to park next to one. Usually PCA events aren't as welcoming to our breed; especially the non-original modified type like myself but alot of compliments were received. I think that in general people are starting to appreciate our unique cars.

People were amazed that three 914's came out of the woodwork. beerchug.gif

Got up real early to beat the heat and worked on the heater ( I know.. why now??) in Betty's car. Gonna need it on the way over the mountain passess in Colorado next month.

Just installed new targa to window seals from the Mike Schantz collection. Very easy once some silicone fluid was drizzled into the rubber channel...
JStroud
I drove the 74 to Sonoma to Original Customs, picked up some oil cooler parts, and more parts for my new microsquirt FI system that's going on my new motor.
Guess it's time to start that build thread.

Jasco stripped + elbow grease + sand paper + sander + primer = smooth (somewhat) targa top. I might need to add some gel in spots. Anyone have tips for that?

Did a scenic drive on Grizzly Peak Blvd. and Skyline Blvd., 35 miles of twisty, bumpy roads full of tourists in mini vans.

Washed car this morning and was ready to head out to the annual Porsche car show, car started but rough idle never smoothed out drove around the block with many misfires and backfires, got back in the driveway popped the engine lid the idle got slower and the car slowly died never got it restarted didn't drive it to the show and will have to problem solve it this week. what i do know, Fuel pump runs and is reading about 100psi on the gauge, hooked up a timing light, the light fires but inconsistent. pushing down on the cis metering plate makes a hissing sound like air, it should make the injectors sing.
I dont think it has anything to do with washing the car i think it is circumstantial. I have a few things in mind to check and hope i can get it back on the road very soon.
euro911
Added shelves to the bottom of the 'new' workbench and the blast cabinet dolly. A little more reorganization allowed me to move them into the back yard car port. Mrs. euro really appreciated this cheer.gif

Also installed some overhead lights, allowing us to work at night smile.gif

Car runs great, drove around a bit and micro adjusted the boost level right up to 15lbs then picked up Ollie from work. Cars going back into the garage for the night after it cools down. beer.gif going to relax have a beer or two and watch the ball game....

Started scrubbing, cleaning, scraping, and trying to rinse out out the belly/floor pan area under the fuel tank so I can treat it with Ospho and paint it. I don't know if that particular spot on the car has a name, but it deserves one. What a freaking PITA. I'm going back in tomorrow with the wire wheel. Let the good times roll. piratenanner.gif

I took the longest drive, to date, in my car. And on the return trip, I had to have my co-pilot drive her for a bit. She commented: "Mamma Like"

E-brake light. I don't have a good working lever, so it's not installed. I'm working on that, guess I should tape down the indicator. smile.gif

Had to go in for an MRI on the guts this am dry.gif

But wait ... later in the day, got the air filter all set up on the blast cabinet and installed a rheostat for the reclaimer (this vacuum is designed for a much larger cabinet and at full sucking power, I couldn't even move the gloves) sad.gif ... it was like they were on an extra dose of Viagra

Started taking the tin off my wife's engine and tested the blaster with a couple of her tin parts smile.gif

Found a rare part on her engine ... one of those elusive NLA plastic plugs on the bell housing in front of the flywheel (021 101 109). Wondering if there's enough need for these to be reproduced by 914Rubber.com?

Put new front Koni shocks on Betty's car last night.

Handles much better now that we replaced the old KYB shocks that were completely dead.

I can't wait! When I accelerate in a turn the car straightens out by itself so I haven't driven it since. I could only imagine how torn up the rubber looks.

Before It got too hot I put in new accelerator & clutch cables, also a tangerine spherical shift rod bushing

I had a really nice pair of boxster seat belts and receivers... but due to the gravity lock mechanism, they don't work right in the 914.

I also had an ok pair of 944 belts, but no receivers to fit them...

So I took the actual belts off the 968 retractors and rolled them onto the 944 retractors... bingo! They work great and look new.

I put the back of mine up on ramps (not jack stands) so I can pull the transmission and put my new Kennedy pressure plate and clutch in.
euro911
Got my nephew Jeremy to help dig a '68 912 engine out of the back of the garage and mounted it to a stand before we took him home for the w/e. I had removed one head for some repairs (cracked exhaust stud holes and a couple of broken fins).

I noticed that the original 'builder' failed to install the lower deflection plates, so I have to round a couple of those up screwy.gif

In the time being, I'll locate all the rest of the parts to finish it up and when he comes back up, we'll take the other side apart, reassemble everything including freshly-painted tin stuff and a set of rebuilt Solex P40-II carbs.

I pulled the whole powertrain. That was the easy part...hard part was degreasing the transaxle!
