Got the dash board going today. Installed dash pad and foam. Moved on to install 914 Rubber dash cap. Cleaned up old dash face and installed new double sided tape. Seamed the taped on the back to make dash seamless with radio face plate. Will finish the holes when it gets cooler.

On Monday I installed Koni shocks, installed missing front sway bar, installed missing sun visors, fixed broken rear targa latch. Then drove it to work Tuesday.

Still more to do, but it is back on the road after a few years of sitting. cheer.gif driving.gif

Installed my drivers seat, had a lumbar support inflatable installed into the seat, thanks Kelly for the idea.

Things I recently had done to my car:

New tangerine racing MPS rebuild kit installed
New bowlsby wiring harness installed
TPS rebuild kit installed
Inflatable lumbar support installed in drivers seat. If the passenger wants lumbar support they can stick a ham behind them.

I'd be here all day typing all the things I had done to my car in the past year.

I believe I have found a way to build a cold air induction for a -6. Will be posting it in the Paddock under Carerror. Carerror is at almost 10,000 viewers. Never thought that I would get that much attention for something that I consider to be playing.

If you look closely at the front edge of the targa you'll see a wire, that wire represents the intake scoop. To watch it grow you'll have to fallow me and Carerror in The Paddock.

I'm not recovered from survery enough to do heavy work on the car so I called in a favour and a friend came around to take off one of the front suspension arms. With my guidance he did it quite quick for someone with limited mechanical skills.

The diagnosis (as expected) is that the bushes are oval on the rear mounting point. The ball joint is also weak. So I'll take a guess and say the other side is the same. New bushes and ball joints it is then

Took my 12 year old daughter to the highschool parking lot and taught her how to put the car in reverse and 1st gear without stalling it. She did great! Next will be the 15 year old, since it will be her car anyway.
After that, I jumped back in the drivers seat and we went for a little drive and ended up at the french bakery. Lots of fun.

HOORAY! Finished my 2nd rebuild of the carbs last night and was so sure engine would start and run well that I had my wife do the honors this morning.

Sure nuff, after 13 years this old baby started right up and was purring like a kitten! Even drove it up and down our private road a couple times!

Will title and register car next week and get it on the road - then, a thousand small details to work on to make this car what it needs to be.

Yes - I'm a really really really happy Teener!

Brought her home a couple days ago. Found a parking spit with rest of the herd.
She runs and drives. Starts and stops. Gonna do little clean up tasks, but can’t dive in until I get a couple other projects off the slate.

Technically yesterday now, but after ~5 years sitting idle, it runs again.

Huzzah! To celebrate, we took it to lunch. A bit warm, but made it home in one piece, can't ask for more than that.

Getting ready for Mosport... Long overdue.

Spacers to spring mount on the old shocks look like muffler pipe... They are Bilstien shocks though. Lock rings tack welded in place. Kit from Auto atlanta. 150 pound Eibach springs.... they're only 8" free but I think it's all going to work. Sleeve needs to extend past the top of the shock body to get spring tension. Put them down as far as I dare and added a foam bumper. Probably not needed.

They're in, need to be adjusted higher. Adjustment wheel too high up to get a tool on.... might have to pull them back out to do it. Note to self, order 10" springs next time!

Got the 914 registered & plates for it - it hits the road for the first time in 13 years! And does great! Cannot believe a car handles this well without sway bars!

More details on my "Newbie" thread......

Yeah - I've got a ways to go, but I'm a happy Teener......

That's Ben's GT Mod bumper @mb911

I did the final prep and rechrome. It took two attempts but you can see results. piratenanner.gif

Wes @wes was very patient...thank you.

The custom GT bumper nicely altered by Ben and beautifully chromed by Oscar, thanks to both of them. The oil cooler is a Patrick motorsports kit and there fiberglass valance hopefully temporary as I would like to get one from Ben Once he gets to doing them. The engine was a stock 914 2.0 4 now transformed to a stroker 2.377cc 4 estimated 150 hp w/82mm stroke, custom (Buick) crank, 96mm forged pistons, scat 5.325 Chevy rods, IDF 40 Dellorto carbs. She was Balanced and blueprinted by Fat Performance and assembled by Abacus racing. She ran hot enough I decided the best cooling would be up front, $$ but very effective. I’m extremely happy with the way that little car preforms and handles now. I loved, drove and abused my “74” for years and I always wanted more power. One day I finally broke down and stripped her down to bare metal repainted with the original chrome yellow, all new 914Ruber rubber along with to much to mention here of Mark’s other good stuff. Yes I love my little 914 and one day she will likely be handed down to our 2 boys.

Looks great Wes. The last 2 of them Oscar is handling now 1 for my car and 1 for a local numbers matching 6.

Thanks Ben! Now for that matching valence I’m patiently waiting for. I have a old 914 valence if you need. The plastic one on their now will get me by fine till you’re ready. Thanks again!

I got a s**t ton done today. I'm only back to where the 914 lives every few weeks so I spend that "down time" plotting, obtaining parts and doing research.

Today I got to pull the trigger on things: installed all new LEDs around the exterior positions and dome light (thanks @Spoke for the relay to make it all flash correctly!), new tail light lenses (back to US from the PO's Euros), pulled the dead stereo and installed a new Fusion marine unit to drive the Blau's in the 914Rubber pods, reconnected some wiring under the passenger seat, replaced a headlight retaining ring (thanks @GaroldShaffer ) to repair the one that broke a tab when I installed the 914Rubber (Thanks @Mikey914 !) LED headlights last time (those headlights are great!), installed new 914Rubber black aluminum trim strips to replace the wavy plastic ones....and then I drove it for a couple of hours...it was a really great, fun, satisfying day. I couldn't have done it without a lot of help from here during the research phase!

Took my eldest son for a spin on our wonderful twisty country roads to show him how great a 44 year old car handled - he used to have a C5, and has driven my 987.2 S, so he has high standards.....

Of course, getting from 3rd to 4th was impossible, so we had to do with 3rd to 5th with a double-clutch move.....
