Nothing on
my 914, but I stopped in at Callas Rennsport and chatted with Andy (
@socalandy ) for a little while prior to visiting my spine doctor, who's office is right next door.
Saw all kinds of P-cars there, including a few 914s

Has a warm start issue... feels like a fuel problem, and the ashtray mount is not aligned... almost finished:)
That's a very nice looking, clean machine. Well done!

A lot. Welded original fog light brackets onto my bumper last night & installed the almost new NOS fog lights I got from DrPhil; installed H3-LED's and will use lights as DRL's.
Received new VR #2, a SS one - no change, still not charging. Installed new #6 Cu. ground wire from alternator frame to battery/chassis ground. No change. Alternator produces 16.8 - 17v when D+ & DF are jumped, so alternator is good. All grounds tested and proven good.
Still trying to trouble-shoot......I only get the hard ones.....

Took my 12 year old to school in it for the first time.
Painted the side long covers and the rear valance.
Plastidipped the bumper tops.
Picked my 12 year old up from school in it.
Found a new issue. The starter did not want to disengage when the engine fired.
Time to trouble shoot that and the issues causing it to fail emissions.

Ha! Yes that was pretty crucial to be able to work on/drive the car. I've got case VR1 oil showing up tomorrow. Now that it's legal to drive I'm going to change the oil and drive it around enough to figure out what else is wrong with it. The 6 mile round trip to the BMV is the longest drive it's been on in the 4 years I've owned it

Well since it’s after midnight it was yesterday but I got my backpads back today, my friend Jim knows a guy that does automotive and marine upholstery, and dropped off my original back pad pieces and the material from I 914rubber kit I actually got second hand. Anyway started putting the 3 pieces together and hope to put this in the car tomorrow!

I replaced my bad fuel pump & finally got my car started for the first time in 3 years. My upgraded subaru WRX motor has been a long time getting to this point. Damn hydraulic clutch line has a leak. So need to get some parts tomorrow before I can actually try to drive it. Still need to get it to the Dyno for a tune.

Getting ready for Okteenerfest
Reset my timing.. I had it at 27 btdc and remember reading somewhere that Jake recommended the timing be set at 28-30 for the 9590 cam. So I had tried it at 30.....
it didn't like it there, I stalled it a couple times. seems I lost something on the bottom. so I reset it to 28 and every thing is running good. I messed with the idle mixture a bit too. I still cant get the idle below 1150-1200. Oh well.
Installed new non-fog horn grills from Sierra Madre. chrome was a little sketchy on the old ones.
Gave it a bath.

These 914s work well with a little "character", some times I like em better that way. Tell us about that muffler though ... engine size, sound characteristics, etc.

Literati914,
The muffler is a Leistritz that I had a shop fab 2.5 inch pipes. The engine is just a 2.0.

Drove it for well over 200 miles and for 4 1/2 hours on PCA 914-9/14 event - great drive, great people, great food, great fun.
Car did well, considering.....several adventurous events with the engine, but it kept going all day and never failed me. With Gen light on dimly much, but not all, the day, battery stayed charged at 12.4 volts & no electrical problems.
Temp stayed in middle until very end of both out and back trips when approached red but never too close. Flaps, t-stat here, going in soon....

Sad I missed getting a pic of a whole parking lot full of nice Porsches from the First Settler's Region of the PCA at the restaurant where we met and ate.
