Drove it for well over 200 miles and for 4 1/2 hours on PCA 914-9/14 event - great drive, great people, great food, great fun.

Car did well, considering.....several adventurous events with the engine, but it kept going all day and never failed me. With Gen light on dimly much, but not all, the day, battery stayed charged at 12.4 volts & no electrical problems.

Temp stayed in middle until very end of both out and back trips when approached red but never too close. Flaps, t-stat here, going in soon....

Sad I missed getting a pic of a whole parking lot full of nice Porsches from the First Settler's Region of the PCA at the restaurant where we met and ate.

Trailered it home from Okteenerfest! She deserved a rest on her birthday!

Maybe we should have a birthday thread for the cars?!
For mine it’s 9/15 , missed a 9/14 birthday by one day.

Continued rust exploration, and found some classic cheesy fiberglass on the front floor corners.

Found out I'm missing 1 of 2 radiator petcock valves.

EBay special radiator, says for a Celica. Store bought valves didn't work at all. So I remove the one remaining one and measure the threads.

Radiator fitting m10-1.25, part number.

I pain $2.07 yesterday for regular in Columbia Sc on way home...
the biggest difference from state to state is the STATE tax on each gallon of gas , at least here in the states.. so what you get for that extra $1.50 / gallon in California?? not much I think

In So Cal. they keep ripping out the freeway over passes and building wider bridges for more freeway lanes. You would think they would invest in more mass transit like electric trains. Wider freeways turn into wider parking lots during rush hour.

Since I was able to get the new (to me) set of 2.0 Fuchs from a fellow member, I put the EMPI reproductions on to my daughters '74. The genuine Fuchs will go on the '75!

Just another reason why a small town in the mountains of N/E AZ appealed to me. Gas is a few cents higher than in the PHX area, but worth it ... and no heavy traffic issues biggrin.gif

Finished up with Octeenerfest last weekend we are now embarking on a ferry ride to South Bass Island to partake in the Vintage Car Races at Put In Bay.

I don't race but volunteer, now for the 5th year in a row. Great Fun. Wife and I do get to run the track both the new airport facility and also the "old" circuit thru the streets of PIB complete with hay bales at the corners.

A yearly event we both enjoy.

That's how a PO did the front tube repair in the 'BB'. Unfortunately it broke in other places during my custodianship ... so I did the hydraulic conversion. Planning on doing the same conversion on HOWARD, even though the clutch tube is perfectly intact at the moment.

Spent the last few days doing some much needed maintenance. I've been away from the car focusing on career stuff for the last few years and neglected the 914.

I lit a fire under my butt the other day, and drained the fuel, changed the oil, cleaned the carbs, and finally installed the Tangerine linkage I've had sitting around. After synching the carbs it runs better than I think it ever has on the carbs. The idle is super smooth. I'm sure it could be better, but it's pretty darn good for now. Car fired on the second crank, which was nice.

Tying to figure out why my new ATE master cylinder is leaking. The only place I see brake fluid is circled in the picture. No fluid found around the upper grommets or any of the lines or at the firewall where the pedal rod goes through. Although it was already plenty tight, I tightened the circled cap a bit more. Maybe it wasn't machined perfectly, or there is some paint within the fitting not allowing a good seal? Ugh. Fingers crossed that it stops the leak.

Ordered the M10 x 1.0 x 50mm allan head bolts (bless you Amazon/Ebay, they are winging themselves here all by theirselves) Any of these work themselves out? Did Loctite or JBWeld fail eventually?
