You can walk in and get 2 week turnaround easy. I did’t notice the usual stacks of wheels waiting to be done.
And:was it you who had a pair of painted steel bumpers FS ? I’m looking to take the weight out of the ends....
euro911
No, I got rid of all my 'spare' bumpers a while back, Jim.

The only bumbers I've recently seen in the classifieds are these: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=347193

Cats are kinda like that. You don't adopt them. They just show up one day and suddenly you are a cat owner. You don't get a choice.

Began straightening a warped door panel and repaired drivers door storage box. The lower 3 screws had pulled thru the cardboard so I added some aluminum reinforcement shims. Needed to flatten out those areas before applying the metal strips. I used a small steamer a seam pliers to do this. On the door panel I used clamps, cinder blocks, boards and the little steamer against a flat surface. I'll need to strengthen the cardboard with some fiberglass epoxy once it is dry or it will just do it again.

So much of the floor, tunnel, and the rear bulkhead had been rotted away that since I was going water cooled, I opted for some different approaches to my repairs. We see lots of great restorations and some incredibly inventive custom work on these pages and threads that are worthy of first.gif first.gif .... mine is more of a Roadkill Garage edition. Hopefully more like the Millennium Falcon - It may not look like much Kid, but she's got it where it counts... biggrin.gifClick to view attachment Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentClick to view attachment

We went to the bank and deposited the check from the insurance company, and got the down payment for the body shop. We are going to the body shop tomorrow to swap wheels on Betty's 914 so the good ones don't get messed up doing paint work.

We are finally moving in the direction of getting it repaired. cheer.gif

I painted my car, it was the first time i had done so.

This year i've noticed cracks appearing accross the car in various places. Today i had a guy who works in a major body shop come and take a look at it.

It seems i've put the paint on too thick. I will need to rub it back and just put the correct amount on. Oh well.

Today I brought my Alpine radio back to life. It came with the car when I bought it 5 years ago but it didn't work at all. It was stonedead. So I took it to the radioshop but they said they couldn't repair it. Last week I felt I had to give it a try and I took it apart but It still didn't work. So today I had a look on Youtube and tried again. Took it apart completely , used a lot of contact spray , a toothbrush and a Q-tip and slowly it came back to life. And it plays really well actually. It's an Alpine 7510. Does anyone know what year it could be from? I couldn't find any information on the internet. Click to view attachment

If you don't try something you want to try, you would chastise yourself for not trying later. This is not a failure. You learned something, and you will only get better at it. Good job.

Thank you for the really interesting link! Can't get enough of it. And surprisingly the brochure of the 7510 is in Dutch , wich is my native language. I also have the impression that the old Alpine plays better than my new one.
