dont forget the cover plates for where the bumper shocks stick thru ,
and also in the rear, there is a hole in thebumper for where the tow hook can screw into but our late cars had it in the steel bumper and the early cars had theirs welded onto thebody so if you want that it will have to be added.---

good luck with your latest project- however if you do this , i dont think there is an original copper metallic that still has the BUB's and is still original color too.
Yours, mine and Brad Mayuer of 914LTD all are back dated bumpers......

My speedo was a little wonky. I have an early 911 electronic speedo that Palo Alto Speedo converted to look like my original speedo, but with an extra odometer digit so it will not roll over at 99,999. Because of that, we have no speedo cable running through the tunnel. Also, we needed to add a GPS signal sender as well as a unit to calibrate the signal to the speedo. Consequently the speedo was not reading correctly some of the time, mostly the first 15 minutes when driving. Then it was dead on accurate after that. Weird!

We decided to send the speedo back to PAS to verify it was not the actual speedo. Hartmut at Palo Alto Speedo was an absolute peach to work with. He got the speedo back and immediately bench tested it and it was perfect. He returned it and back in the car it went.

Then Bob (Justice League Bob, not my brother Bob) had a lengthy discussion with Dakota Digital where we got the two units and ultimately we determined we had everything hooked up correctly. The one thing Bob wanted to try was to disconnect the one wire we had going from the calibration box to the back of the speedo. Well we hooked it all back up, sans that wire, and the speedo is now 100% perfect. I am very happy as that was a problem that had us scratching our heads.

Made some nice progress last weekend, sprayed undercoat and painted the front fenders... piratenanner.gif

I used Dinitrol Pyrmohyd 448 for the undercoat... A bit expensive but I like it.

Had all the wiring redone on my combo gauge. Everything works even the emergency brake warning light that has never worked since I’ve owned the car. 26 years (shameful).

That looks really nice.
I installed the chrome exhaust finisher on my Ben's muffler. I sent the stock 914-6 finisher to Ben and he stretched it on his expander pipe muffler machine and then he welded 2 nuts on so I can secure it because stretching it eliminated the indentations to hold it securely to the pipe.

I then applied a nice coat of carnauba wax to the car. Going to take my son to lunch tomorrow and want to take the Six.

Hey that worked out better then I thought it would.. Did the set screws make it there? I am not sure as I bought 4 so I thought and I have 3 here still.

I adjusted a front wheel bearing that was a tiny bit loose, took maybe 1/4 turn to get it where it should be. Getting the cap off the spindle to get to the nut was a bit of a pain in the butt. I had to hit it multiple times with a hammer (I wrapped it in tape to prevent catastrophic damage) as I worked around it and finally it came off. Once that was off the rest was easy enough.

Then my brother and I took it car shopping for him; he is looking for a toy. That was about 60 miles and then when I got home my wife wanted to go for a ride so I was happy to oblige.

She said the seat was very comfortable (I updated to the adjustable passenger seat) and she said it rode very nice and ran good. Although she said if she drives it she would not be as mean to it as I was! dry.gif I really do not drive it hard at all. But I do drive it.

Total miles for the day was about 100. No issues to report. beerchug.gif

took apart the odometer and put it back together, was wondering if there is a way to TEST it BEFORE I put it back into the car ???

Replaced all the seals above the doors on Elwood. That #$%$^#% front targa seal is a %%^#$@. (just keeping it family friendly). I took my time replacing them, I want them to fit tightly.

Now that I have all new seals in, the drivers' window does not come up far enough to reach the seal. I have to tear the door apart and fix the regulator. I was already planning on doing that, as I need to clean the latch assembly.

FYI.. It was 109 and humid out there today. :melting:

The wife & I washed the Cayman and did just under 150 miles in it today - up Pacific Coast Highway to Oxnard, grabbed a bite to eat & drove back home on the 101 Fwy.

I tore the driver's door apart on the factory six. Cleaned the door latch to make it work easier, and fixed the window. The block had fallen off the rear of the window, so it was flopping around in the track and wouldn't reach the seal on top. Once it put everything back together, the window works much better, but it is still about 8mm shy of matching the seal on the targa top. Even the rubber block at the front is lower than the top seal. So I am going to put a metal strip between the seal channel and the top. Gotta get it sealed up for the trip to TN.

Igor is offline. Last time I drove him, the RH shift cable got against the header, so now it won't move. I need to find a place that can make one about a foot longer.

First steps in getting the doors on permanently, both sides are now hung. We're going to get the seals, door handles, strikers and surrounding rubber installed so we can start the fine tuning of gaps.

Every day, it's moving a little further along smile.gif

Since I pulled the front calipers off and sent them out to be rebuilt, I figured I should at least get out the bucket & sponge and wash most of the dirt out of the wheel wells. Other than the fact that everything needs to be re-bushed and/or replaced, the wells themselves are relatively rust free with original paint.

Installed my Rennlist quick release hub. Very satisfied with the product. Kind of tricky cutting my momo hub down because the ring that attaches the steering wheel to is steel and the hub was aluminum. Found ignition timing out as mentioned reset and test drove with great results but didn't check the carbs as minor spit back on 2 throats, found vacuum out by a small amount on them, reset air bleeds and the best it has ever run,did hot and cold start ...super happy with result.
Checked my oil level and fuel hose condition plus other area's, traced 2 oil leaks
to leaking cam feed lines and the ever present leaking exhaust valve covers, nice to see I can fix that .
