@double-a could you post a couple pics of your driving lights with the lights turned off please? Looks like a good solution for keeping a more stock look and yet getting LED lighting. beerchug.gif

@double-a - i have Pilots as well - but ended up going with a slight blue/daylight incandescent lamp to match with my 914 Rubber LED headlights. I've always liked the yellow fogs tho - just couldn't find a good LED that fit the Pilots.

@Cairo94507 - the Pilots are getting hard to find, I think. Maybe they're no longer being made? I know Camp914 used to stock them but not sure about that currently. They do occasionally pop up FS here and on ebay, etc. They're great lights - stock look.

here ya go, they look pretty stock to me. the LEDs replaced my PIAA plasma ion H3s (which are fantastic btw) at maybe 1/4 the wattage and at least 2x the brightness.

i should mention that i needed to modify the back shell of the pilot lights somewhat. the LED bulb is like 1/16" too long, preventing the trim ring to fully clamp the lens and shell together. i solved this by tapping a rounded bump on the inside with a ball peen hammer. this gave enough clearance for the bulb smash.gif

holy crap!!! that great!! wow lots of garage space there, and sought space for. some big 914 gathering and still social distance biggrin.gif

Thanks, guys ... I'm pretty excited. There were multiple offers on the place so we put an escalation clause in the offer, and fortunately we only went $500. over our original offer aktion035.gif ... (I really wanted this place)

Yeah, Phil, I hope to host a Rt-66 Event some day ... plenty of parking - even for those who choose to trailer out this way idea.gif

Mike, luckily, some other good friends also purchased a home in the same community here last month, and they have 3 young kids ... their 2 boys have already applied for the yard mowing job laugh.gif ... (they have a riding mower and it's only 3-minutes travel time to get over here) shades.gif

Some other close friends purchased a home in the same community almost 5 years ago, and they're a short walk away. The wives have offered to come stay with my wife as needed, as they are both stay-at-home moms cheer.gif

We've truly been blessed pray.gif

You could always pave over most of that yard and build an even bigger garage!

@markhoward - No, you CAN'T! Given what Tony @RetroRacer builds (never mind designs! drooley.gif pray.gif ), we simply MUST keep him focused on 914-related stuff! Send him more money!!!

Plus, 58 more than deserves it... shades.gif

@Cairo94507
thanks! interesting difference between the new lever and original one , on the back side the copper contact goes only 1/4 of the way not 1/2 way around. seems to work fine, though, now i need to figure out wiring of the new switch and pump. no more leaking water line . and will actually have wipers. I should have done this when everything was out for body and paint but i didnt have much time putting back together in less than 2 months to get to Okteenerfest in time. better late than never. now where to mount the pump??
Cairo94507
Hi Drphil914- Is it possible to mount it sort of behind the bottle like they did on the Sixes?

Picked up a car transport from my local U Haul, heading to get my "new '74 914" tomorrow. Sight unseen, stored in a garage for the last 28 years, in boxes. I was looking for a project. Last time I did this was in 2013, came home with a '85 Alfa spider, no rust, 12,000 miles flood car. Yes, it was an adventure but I asked for it. I guess some of us never learn. Also sent funds via paypal for a 2.7, should arrive next week. I am hoping the guys/gals here will be helpful, I am sure there will be rust, when is there ever none?
thanks in advance
drem914
Big chore for the evening was to replace the old headlight switch for a replacement.
Now the old Cibies light up when I pull the switch, instead of hoping they do and then wiggle the switch until they do. Thanks Bruce

Some really nice work gentlemen.

I swapped out the front brake calipers with fresh ones from PMB. Turns out the car just glides alone now that it doesn’t have sticking brake calipers.

Made some progress on the SS fuel line and two port pump install. I need to get my tank treated and then put everything back together. The PO had a hack mechanic move the 3 port pump to the front at some point in the past and it was zip tied to the steering rack. I bought the pump mount from Chris and welded it. I suck at welding but it will work. During the previous install the hold was butchered a bit and I sort of fixed that as well. Liberal use of a dirt bike tube on the fuel lines will not win me a medal at any concours but hopefully will help keep things from moving around too much. Still working on how to best route the lines at the tank end to avoid a kink.

A few weeks back I got the 2 ltr Fuchs back from the metal polisher. I had this set on the shelf and someone previously had fully polished 3 of the 4 wheels already. I prefer the stock look but what the heck. They are not original to the car anyway. They replaced a set of AR wheels with 25 year old tires on them.

Now, if I just finish up the fuel system redo and get this thing running right so I can actually drive it!

@mikey63 Mike - those look great. Love, love love the way you're carrying your design theme throughout the car. aktion035.gif

For anyone who hasn't seen this car, it's got a bunch of subtle (and some not so subtle!) mods that are quite unique and fit together really well. I happily confess that I'll be copying a couple of Mike's ideas on my build.

We should all give Mike a hard time and bother him until he posts up some pics of his beauty. poke.gif

It's a 3.0 liter Nissan V6 that puts out a mild 170 HP. Loads of fun to drive and I've hit 132 MPH at 5500 RPM on the autobahn here in Germany. Building another 914 right now with an LS3 and Boxster S 6 speed.
