Painted this while it's too cold outside to do anything else. Just a small thing, but why are freshly painted parts so gratifying? Can you guess what it is?Click to view attachment

Hey, I finally get to post something on this thread! I got the car ready for the upcoming autocross season. I took last year off due to COVID, but going to get back to it this year.
- Adjusted shifter to solve the 'difficult to get first gear' problem
- Balanced the throttle bodies on the MFI
- Took a plug reading to confirm mixture on the MFI
- Took some caster out of the front end and maximized camber
- And the best thing I did, took a drive in the sunshine. Car sure does get a lot of looks.

Went to a Euro car meet up in San Carlos Ca which ended up being a bunch of new cars. Blew that scene and had breakfast with the kids up at Alice’s in Woodside. Great bunch of cars. The DeLorean was originally owned by the founder of Mongoose bikes back in the 1980’s. Stripes were actually painted not a decal.

No, it was very original in the engine. All the parts were clean or replated.

Went for a drive yesterday

There has been a break in our usual weather (rain) that is due to revert back to normal tomorrow with a dusting of snow possible by the beginning of next week. Today I took the teener out for a drive to keep the battery charged and the tires round biggrin.gif .

The car is forty-seven years old and is a lesson in haptic feedback. Unlike my modern daily driver, the steering gives you real road feel and the suspension is tight enough that you feel each bump and pebble. You actually have to use you own hands to roll the windows up and down. The stereo is, well, not. There is a clutch and you have to change the gears yourself. You sit lower than everybody else around you. Your survivability in a collision is lower (don't test this yourself) and the interior is not as quiet as the average daily driver. Seats are not heated nor automatically moveable. Adjustable lumbar support is not available. There is no blind spot warning nor back-up camera so you actually have to look over your shoulder when changing lanes or backing up. The car defines visceral.

I love it.

You need to start a separate post with pics of the before and after of the cryo detailing.
Lots of folks might be interested.

I'll do that when I get more time- my desktop is slow as molasses tonight... just a couple quick pix I took when they were done.
They are a local AZ place that will do it remotely- I should have done it outside but it was actually supposed to rain in the valley of the sun today! It left a hell of a mess on the floor but really no residual on the car itself. I did a 1/2 day supply of dry ice.
Took off a lot of the 50 year old Ziebart I put on back then. That stuff was mess but probably saved my car as it was my only car for its first 4 years and had to be driven in IA winters.

There is a shop here in So Cal that specializes in this process.

I cleaned my spare front bumper to have it rechromed and have the holes for the "tits" removed.
Back side had a thick coat of wax on it and getting rid of it was sort of a mess with lots of acetone as a solvent. w00t.gif

Took run to Lake Havasu City to pick up my '71 transaxle after a rebuild at CMS. They did my '73 last summer.
Put back in the original 7/31 R&P and it was a good thing as my 6/29 which had been in there for 40 some years had some significant wear.
They run it on a dyno after the rebuild so they know everything runs and sounds right.Click to view attachmentClick to view attachment

Replacing front rotors and pads of the 986 and UPS dropped 2 big boxes.
Thank you so much Craig and good job packaging them.

Immediately unpacked them and try to test fit to the
rear driver side. Used jack stand to push the trailing arm up but won’t go up a little more since the whole car was being lifted from the other jack stand where it was sitted.

VTO 7x15 12ET. Hope 195x60 tires will be perfect.

Bought a trailer for the race car so it doesn't have to live outside. I needed another project. Power, lights, cabinets and floors, gonna have to do something for the ramp tail if the GT4 is going in there.

@ndfrigi - Love the mini-lites on 914s. That is going to look very good. I could not source a sport/summer 195x60 and went with 195x55 on my car. I would have preferred the 60. beerchug.gif
