Hi Michael! it is a VTO Classic 8. I believed American Tire Depot have 195x60 with AA A rating but probably not sport/summer.

No extra finish on the transaxle, just cleaned. They use a their billet insert for bearings as the original is usually worn beyond repair. I suppose some concours judge wouldn't like it but do I care???

Cleaning engine and putting in new push rod tube seals and checking torque on heads and valve train when a friend (long time Porsche mechanic from Garrettson/Anderson days) stops by and "checking" my work when he finds a VERY loose intake valve guide in one cylinder! Hadn't noticed any funny noises before I took the engine out but hadn't done any head work on that engine for probably at least 35 years... Thank God I didn't put it back in!!
So off the heads went to Competition Engineering in Tempe... will give me more time to clean all the rest of the parts!

Got both blower fans working on the 1970 today. The front one took spraying some good electrical contact cleaner in the switch mechanism and working it back and forth.

The rear had a broken wire at the pull handle. Hooked up a new wire end and it fired right up. I love it when simple things are the solution

ooops I’m late to respond to your other post regarding the metal grinding.
What we did on this 71 with side shift conversion by previous owner and I sold it to a member here. We just used long screw driver to pushed a little bit the part where it was rubbing and I just accessed it through the small hole where the heater knob.

well for sure you will do it in a better way.

Drove it...

However before driving it I modified the orientation of the MAP sensor.
It used to point the other direction...the problem is that with the connector attached it would hit the trunk lid.

Not sure if I ever posted the studs in the front bumper to allow for easier one person assembly to vehicle.

10 degrees this morning, cleared ice & snow from windshield, and car started. Never did warm up though.

I took my crank, case, and heads to the machine shop to get cleaned up. Forgot the flywheel, but I'll take it soon.

I'm working on a 2.0 rebuild with new cam, going up to 96mm with some other improvements while it's parked.

I've got a set of Dellortos, Webers, and EMPIs... any preferences out there?

I picked this up this past weekend, hopefully this means there's a WCR in my future. Have been in a state of trailer envy ever since borrowing the famous P-Car Hauler from @ValcoOscar so I had to step it up! (and also after borrowing the P-Car Hauler the wife was onboard with it)

Long ramps are good. Tilt is even better.

My brother is recovering from major back surgery and is doing very well, but there is no way he could get into the 914-6 with the surgery being less than a month ago. So my cousin Phil, another insane car guy came over and we took my Six to the Cars & Coffee at the Alamo Square shopping center in Alamo, on Danville Blvd. on the north west corner of the intersection of Danville Blvd. and Stone Valley Road. Large center and for the past 6 months they have been having Cars & Coffee at 0900 on Fridays so long as it is not raining.

My car was very well received and people were really eye-balling it and the quality of the work. These are some serious hot rod/car guys and I must have given Kent's info to 4 or 5 guys who were just head over heels over my paint.

Had a great time and saw 1 other 914, a '73 1.7 that looked essentially stock. Did not get to speak to the owner, as far as I know. I look forward to next Friday, weather permitting.

In the last few month, I fixed the door stopper on both sides, the coupling rod and installed the heating fan and a new steering wheel.

So, I can’t wait for the spring and start a test-drive today :-)

one of a kind! a pretty good fit i’d say. this fit an the material is every bit as good as anything i’ve see before.
i went with black in the sides due to tires and dirt along sides and bottom. . well worth the $350 or so i paid.

Finished installing new seats using factory subframes, and harness for driver ready for hillclimb events this year...

@KSCarrera is the drivers side seat mounted directly to the floor? looks like the cross support is not there or lower than stock?

Both are mounted to the stock subframes using cross braces which are stepped down, dropping the seats about an inch lower than stock.

Very few Hill Climb events still exist in the US.

They were fun, and a 914 is an excellent weapon of choice.

ok, so you modified the sub frame base, do you have any pictures of that?

Not the base - I unbolted the subframe and runners/rails from the stock seats and ran cross braces between the two sides. The Cobra seat was narrow enough to sit down between the runners, so I stepped the braces down by an inch, meaning the seat sits lower than stock (giving helmet clearance with the roof in place) but you can still use the tilt and fore-aft adjustment as per stock. In my rush – sorry, enthusiasm – to get the job done, I didn't take a photo, but I can do a sketch if it helps...

Cool seats. Good idea on the rails.
