Put in the seatbelts from seatbelt planet, installed the back pad, and put the seat rails into the car today
Have to screw in the back pad on the bottom, install the center cushion and base and the slide the seats on the rails.
I'm missing one seatbelt anchor that I need to purchase and the I can get the door panels installed, the roof and windows lined up and we'll be good to go.

Agreed, Blue/white looks great.

mmichalik
Thanks guys! In the beginning, I had to convince myself of the color combo but, over the years it grew on me and I really like it now. Funky 70's sort of thing.
It's been a long time coming to get here and we're almost done!

Upgrading the radiator from an OEM MR2 Turbo unit (1.8T swap) to a slightly larger 3 core unit and slim fan with shroud to see lower temperatures during commuting. Not exactly a drop in affair. Mocking up replacement brackets which should look nice. The OEM rad has foam surrounding it, I'm trying to find a good thick and dense foam to use but I'm struggling to find something fitting the size and heat durability requirements.
Chris914n6
Spent most of the day making brackets. Well, technically it was making things fit nicely.

1 for the VW Deathstar. 2 for the oil cooler.

Finally got the passenger seat belt bolt back in. At the start of winter, I had broken the bolt when trying to tighten it (it was not seated). After much cussing and fussing, I got the old one out but thoroughly trashed the threads in the receiving nut.

Ended up tapping and helicoiling. Worked like a charm - although I was worried about getting the tap started at that angle and without being able to use the tap wrench that close to the floor.

Aligned the roof and the door glass today.
We're almost there. Just have to get the door panels on, seat belts in, new center console light and the rear valance painted and put on. (we had to make a second hole on the right side for the triad exhaust.)

@914werke , thank you, it's so nice to see it come together after 6 years of work. It's running a full set of your led lights as well, so thank you for that. The late model 75 fog lights you created for me are awesome!

Actually yesterday. Drove the 914 for only the second time this year to a meet-up of foreign car enthusiasts for breakfast. Interesting group of folks with English, Swedish and one German car (mine).

Hi @doctor Phil

I believe the shoulder for the gasket and 2 opposing holes enlarged for the roll pins. @914werke could confirm ...

Finally replaced the relay plate after cleaning and checking continuity for all of the terminals and connections. Also cleaned and tightened all of the grounds in the engine compartment and at the transmission. Crossed my fingers, turned the key, pressed the starter button, and "WALLA"...engine started, "G" light went out, and DVOM showed alternator is charging at 14V.

YAY!

Brought the ‘73 home from the paint shop. Engine/transaxle, glass, gas tank, interior, rockers, etc. out paint job. Now the “fun” to put it all back together begins. biggrin.gif

Getting ready to cut some more aluminum for the area above the transmission up to the old firewall.

As you can see the patterns are done. Can't get it in one piece and it needs some bracing. It's good that there are 2 elevations at this point. It gives me a chance to stack the sheets and sneak in a piece of extrusion.

And yes, very nice green

Both speedo lights have been burnt out for a while. I usually only remember
when driving at night and don't want a speeding ticket. Found some in the
basement parts stash and contorted myself enough to install them.

Fitted the panels and they look good.

Late 2ltr header, no heat exchanger.

Received my new axles from Dutchman Motorsports. Precise and accurate machining. Top one being the template I sent to them for Measurements. Include your CV inner hubs for them to test fit for quality control.

I've been chasing a lean/hot issue on my 2.0L with DJet. Last week I changed out the fuel filter which looked like the original and was black on the inside. I was chatting with a friend and they mentioned the screen on the gas tank might be dirty. So I pulled the gas tank today and sure enough that screen was filthy! It was intact though and cleaned up nicely.

I got tired of fooling with that internal sock filter and eliminated it, replaced with a filter between tank and pump when I moved pump to the front, then another filter after the pump.

I just refurbished a set of early bumpers in metallic gray. the rear was pretty banged up and twisted but it's presentable now. I shaved the tow hook access hole. The front is a GT modified from @mb911

After color sanding and buffing, they are going on my white 914 sad.gif screwy.gif
