Very simple work today, replaced leaky fuel filler flange seal.

I spent most of the day trying to learn Fusion 360 so I can design brackets for my ITB setup.

Not too bad for a guy who up until now used CAD (Cardboard Aided Modeling).

If anyone knows how to get Fusion 360 to print to scale, let me know. I need to 2D print it and glue it to a sheet of plastic to test fit it.

Why would I do that? Because I am not 100% confident in my knowledge of Fusion 360. So I want to verify it before I send it off to be cut in aluminum.

@ClayPerrine

I saw this video, it might help… looks like there is a scale setting in the print driver.

What motor are the carburetors from? They look good, but are missing numbers for 9146 versions.

With the help of @mm1 we got the frunk nearly done on my 71. Left to do is the expansion tank and fuel filler, some carpet and the spare and I can move further rearward.

The carbs are for our 69 911S 2.0 motor that we rebuilt and had these tuned to match. I cannot wait to hear how they sound.

I think that they may be an old “6” number … 40IDTP3C1

Over the last week I replaced bumpers with some refurbished gray metallic bumpers I had in stock. I also updated to ROUND Spoke LED lights, swapped out driving lights to LED, tinted driving lamps to amber. Lastly, added side decals.

I have a GT engine lid coming this week from Sergio @PCA7GGR

Pulled the tank and inspected it. I WILL KILL THIS SUMMER VAPOR LOCK ISSUE! I couldn't believe how clean it was, although the small tiny nut and retainer on the bottom of sending unit fell off and was hanging out in the tank. Old fuel pump out and most of the old lines out. Just waiting on the new SS lines from Chris at Tangerine. Next is cut a hole for the new 75-76 blister panel and pump mount. Any pointers would be welcome.
Thanks
Mike

I recently purchased a Rennline magnet phone holder that attaches to my dash clock.

The phone swivels as needed and the ring around the clock can be repositioned. Now I can read a map while driving hands free

Oh shit, I thought Pat was calling me,
Today I made up some panels to feed the air box fans. Trying to eliminate the possibility of air flow from the openings in the inner fender well.

I would like to be able to see the fan horns so I will have to make the top in plexiglass.
I really like working with the foam board. It's cheap and I don't mind scraping a piece.

I love the CAD design element here! I've used so much cardboard aided design on my build due to inspiration like this...thanks!

Dug through my parts stash to try to clear out /4 related stuff, just listed some super rare stuff, brakes, wheels, service manuals and a NOS dash that was literally gone in 2 minutes... Bittersweet to sell parts I'd worked so hard to find but good to know they're going to other 914world members, makes me happy, And its helping to clear some space up in the garage!

Didn't happen today it happened yesterday. My build thread went over 35,000 viewers. First of all it's posted in the Paddock, not in the main stream. Really amazing to me to see that much attention. Got some radical stuff coming up like Elephant Racing suspension with Nitrogen gas shocks. With these new mods she should go under 1,600 pounds as the springs will come out of the car
Pelican parts has the front TG3 suspension on sale for $3,750. The cross bar used to be about $9K all by itself.

Took my first drive in it this weekend. First time ever driving a 914 as well. Pure fun! Took just over 5-1/2 years. It runs nice (thank you @jrust for selling me your old setup), shifts well, no issues with over heating. Under 190 degrees on coolant temp. Still needs better tires, tie rods, rear springs & shocks and more.... driving.gif

IIRC bought the same off of a local member, just can’t find the PM. I can dig up the box and perhaps has some markings on it that might help.

Completed my rear suspension refresh. Took the afternoon off and finished bolting on the axles, dust shroud brake disk and brakes. Tightened it all down and went for the first ride of the season. Sooooo sweet!

Next winter- front suspension.

Working on a new to me 914, and while trying to trace down a parasitic battery drain, I went ahead and pulled the backpad to determine if something crazy had been done with the interior light wiring behind it.

In doing so, I moved the seats forward. When trying to move them back, they would only go back about half way. I also noticed they would slide off the front without pushing in on the tab on the seat rail.

Upon looking at the bottom, I realized that one rail/slider on each seat was installed backwards. I flipped them, and good to go. Somewhere along the ownership line, someone had flipped the rail. Actually out of all the things a P.O. could do, this was one of the easier fixes. So far found way more good than bad. That said, I'm impressed....I have no idea how he got the seat to slide all the way back! Maybe he put the seat with rails on the bracket/base before he mounted the base???

After owning the car for 12 years and it sitting idle for the last 7 I drove my car for the first time with a 2.0 back in its home. I got it to my shop and replaced the clutch cable, replaces the shift rod bushings and adjusted the valves and gave myself a hit list of items to get the car back to being a daily driver
