Off the jackstands at last! A long day, but much was accomplished.

1) Installed engine (after cutting slightly larger opening for induction)
2) Mounted ECU
3) Made wiring pretty (less ugly?) with zip ties and tape
4) UPS guy made a timely appearance with my K&N filter, so I bolted that up

I'll fabricate a box for the TB/airflow meter later, but this will do for now. I'm very pleased at how the LS1 fit...I really had my doubts, Only issue is that the main harness coming out of the firewall rubs against the harmonic damper, so I'll fit one of those rubber-lined clamps to pull it away from all the rotating bits.

225 tires are tight on the back. Left side fender needs a bit more pulling, but fine on the right. I love the staggered look! piratenanner.gif

Grocery shopping and more clean up/prep work at the shop for the Carb Clinic/Lift Erection Party this Saturday.

Also picked up some goodies from HF, including a 2-ton chain hoist for moving 'stuff' up to the storage area above the office space.

The temperatures have been up in the high 90's around here and the shop was still cooking way into the night dry.gif ... so we built some ducting, attached it to a 20" box fan and installed the contraption up in the ceiling under one of the turbine roof vents. Works pretty good for being a ho-hum tin-knocker mueba.gif

Just finished the installation of rebuilt transmission, 911 brakes in rear, sway-a-way half shafts, new 108 CV Joints, 911 stub shafts, 911 bearings, shift rod and lever, 911 heat exchangers, heat system, butterfly valves, etc.

Car still on jack stands and ready to go down the road for test driving but have been too busy (or afraid after seven years on jack stands) to take her out. Everything prepped and ready to go except removing the jack stands. Maybe tomorrow.

Ya, one of my biggest fears in a world where pulling up beside a Tercel has you looking UP!
I installed my stock am/fm radio yesterday...Looks great (period) sounds like crap!
I prefer the boxer 4 music anyway.......at least until I can find a boxer6 drooley.gif

Pulled my engine this morning; a first time for me and everything went really well!
Thanks to Chris Foley for the great engine jack plate; that made it so easy!
It's rebuild time!! I'm having a fun time working on this car!
mgp4591
Paid the guy the last owed on the car, bringing it home tomorrow. My first 914, then I'll go from there. Not enough time to get it ready for the Red Rocks run down in Beaver (a 3 hour drive) but it should be fun to work on. Like I need another project... blink.gif

Scrubbed years of dirt off the wheel wells. Kinda neat that the wells are same color as car.

Cleaned the garage a little too.

Has had the heads reworked, cylinders honed, new rings. Comes with brain, MPS, relay board and new vacum line kit and spark plugs. Basically needs an altenator belt, plug wires and some fuel lines hooked to it. Pretty much plug and play. Even has heat exchangers attached.

We'll see.

I realized about 1/2 way in that it wasn't going to be "perfect" so I pressed on regardless.

It looks ok, but it's not glass smooth. Not sure I want it to be glass smooth either, so this may be a final or an interim step. I should know soon. huh.gif

Just burned through a tank of fuel on back roads of MA and NH in cel ebration of 18 years with my wife. Found a nice winery too.

Well, I didn't do this today, but more like over the weekend.

Friday: Adjusted AFR and took her through Latigo Canyon in Malibu. Beat the snot out of her and she never balked! Head temps never went above 370F all day. They were highest on the freeway doing 75mph. As soon as I got down the off ramp, they returned to 350F. All of this while idling at 13.8:1, 13.8:1 on the freeway and 10.3:1 at WOT. I've still got to work on that WOT! Here's a pic in the canyon while adjusting the AFR idle.

Saturday: Attended the Carb clinic in SoCal. Had a Great time with the other members here. Thanks again guys. I had a great time and the wife could tell when I got home. Nothing like driving the 914 & rubbing elbows with other teener lovers.

Sunday: Went to work. Got home @ 4pm and changed the oil in the 914 and adjusted the AFR AGAIN! I think I'm done! 13.8:1 @ idle, 13.9:1 @ cruise and 11:1 @ WOT....Whew! Head temps barely crept over 350F. The torque in this 1911cc is fun! (Not as fun as a certain owner of a 3.0L teener), but still fun....I beat a Prius in a race! dry.gif blink.gif
