All smokey here today due to the Mosquito Fire, so my car remains in the garage, under a cover. Hoping that Sunday brings rain as predicted to stop this mess. Fortunately, our land is nice and clear after doing tree and brush work for the past 8 months. I always wonder, with all of the homeless people "camping" all over the forested areas around us how many of these fires are started by them? They are all over and the Placer County Sheriff's Department does nothing.
In town there was an old van parked across from a bank on a 1-block side street. Covered with a tarp and garbage in the street and thrown about the adjacent landscape- all around the van. I called the Sheriff after the van had been there 72 hours and they said they will do nothing. They also said that the garbage was the van owner's personal property and not garbage. I said, "Why is it strewn about the street and landscape then?" The Dispatcher got all upset and said she will not send a deputy. Talk about stupid.
I called the CHP since this is right off Highway 49 which runs through town and they said they would respond and address the issue. 2 days later then van was gone. Thank you CHP. I still believe the Sheriff should have done their job as this was not on the Highway, but a side street.
Sorry, but if you allow them to take root, I fear we will end up looking like SF, Berkeley, Oakland, LA, etc.

Took her to the Aircooled event in NJ, it was a bust for me, but a great shakedown for my new '75. Took a year+ to build a 2056 and get everything together (PO had dis assembled much of the car including engine/trans/brakes/interior/.... Just made it home after 770 miles, the only incident was on the way home I was hearing something rattling that kept getting worse, I was getting bounced around on the Pennsylvania highways and had to pull over. The drivers front caliper was about to fall off, being held on with one finger loose bolt. Lucky for me I pulled into the Lowes parking lot, bought a couple tools and a 12x 1.5 bolt and I was on my way. MPG when home averaged 31, I would say my average speed was in the 75 +/- range.
Major victory for me

After months or research, I ordered and received an Eastwood 140 MIG welder. It seems to be perfectly optimized for welding sheet metal on a 914.
I've been looking too and came across that. Can you say more? Looks to be best price ordering direct from Eastwood.com.

They're already swapped out so no side by side. I will say that the beam pattern seemed to be more focused and level compared to the retro fit bulb in the H4 housing. I also don't seem to have any issues with the High/Low beam switching and the Spoke LED driving lights, it all works as it should without any hacks.
In terms of cost, yeah...
I thought I was getting two for that price originally and had to begrudgingly order the second one when a single lamp showed up

Scraped off more of the side stripes with Porsche in a funky and hideous early 70's typestyle using a hairdryer and a plastic scraper. Of course that method also loosens any putty in the area and comes off as well. It was all going to get redone anyway, so no big loss.

I picked up this fiberglass aftermarket LE spoiler at Okteenerfest from Rick aka rix914parts , but there wasn’t time or tools while there to mount it , so unfortunately the front end looked a bit off , as some may have noticed . i had to remove the stock one , due to tow bar, and i didnt want to cut holes in that one , and the LE does work with the tow bar, and i decided to mount the Hella lights as well. Took all day to do this task, and i’m not done the lights are not wired yet, that’s a job for another day, but i think i’m ready for the Hilton Head Concours car club show case in November.
The valance took a lot of prep work but in the end it came out nice.

@914e @jim_hoyland I had used the Tangerine firewall bushing however the firewall sheetmetal and the sheet metal ring that the boot connects to are slightly off center from each other and caused me binding. So I had to go back the the plastic bushing
