Cleaning the garage and moving around the five NOS rims and two Al Reed sets of restored rims… I was fortunate to have Al do the magnesium rims just before he retired.

These rims are marked for three separate builds.

Last Tuesday we finally got my shifter problems sorted. We ended up going back to a stock side-shifter rear console with the single bronze bushing. We then modified the rear shift rod to have a very slight bend in the last 8" so it aligns perfectly with the console and bushing. My car now shifts like butter. It is so so so very nice to not have to muscle the shifter to get the gears. I still have the Weltmeister short-shifter installed with no issues.

Then I discovered I couldn't turn the heat off on the passenger side. A quick check confirmed when we re-installed the heat exchangers after the valve adjustment the flapper was pushed on a bit to far, preventing the valve from shutting the heat off. Pulled it off and cleaned it just because then reinstalled it and pulled it back 1/4" from where it was and now it works properly. Checked the driver's side too but it was fine.

Now my brother will stop claiming I am trying to roast him at 375 degrees. huh.gif

Hey Everyone, I have procrastinated like a Pro with all kinds of excuses....this past year I have been trying to make time and get back at it...too many hobbies!

So, brakes are installed with Rotors and Pads all the way around. I checked that all of my new lines were good and tight and have just begun filling with fluid!

Once I bleed them, I will tidy up my fuel lines in the front and get the tank back in.

Getting Closer!

Got her, and an '85 Alfa spider in the shop after having a new concrete floor poured a couple weeks ago. It was tough seeing both of them under 24" of snow that we had dumped on us 10 days ago.

Installed the new air filter assemblies with fresh, newly oiled filters and new velocity stacks. The bases on these assemblies are thicker, so I had to add longer studs for the stacks. Everything is buttoned up and the car is purring.............

Also continued to drill out holes in Doug's aluminum rocker panels, so that I can either get them to powder coat or paint myself. Now I'm headed to HF to pick up a hammer & dolley set to start addressing some small dents in the targa bright work.

Finished up the new bases for the new plenums and put them in place, not installed. I like the new proportions and they should finish out as nice as the air box.

StarBear,

That looks awesome!

Might have been just me but I had issues with the half-round screw heads leaving marks in the vinyl on my roll bar. I ended up switching to flathead screws along the back to provide the necessary relief / prevent contact with the vinyl. I'm sure it would have eventually scraped through the vinyl. Something to watch for, i guess.

The quality between the new ones compared to the old ones I'll show tomorrow as that's what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Nice QB call! Maybe yours were too-long replacements?
Mine are the originals, so worked just fine - took out, polished with slat pieces and screwed back in.

Scored a side shift transaxle, SS heat exchangers (Lexington, KY) engine bar, electronic ignition, and a LE spoiler (Cincinnati, OH) today. To Chicago on Sunday for most of rest of the shifter stuff. Only need motor mounts and a bushing, assuming the transaxle is OK.

Finally added a sub in the passenger footwell - thanks to a lot of info here and planning. Sounds fantastic and really rounds things out. Can't wait for top-off weather again. Click to view attachment

I just finished the rough fitting for the drivers side plenum. There's still finishing to make it a clean install and the plexiglass tops. I'm putting the sensors in the middle of bases because I don't want to have to pull them when I get curious.

Nice like your car ,well done , I don't have too many less years on you lol-2.gif lol-2.gif ,birthday wishes biggrin.gif .
Dug out my better RH side door handle from storage as the one on the car was driver side and had crappy chrome, bit of history this part was 1 of 3 crap ebay buys I have ever had.
Handle was described as RH side in good condition but there were no pics of the underside...asked for them and got a reply saying it was mint,no problems so I click "buy now" and it arrives in good time via my freight forward, mounting tab is cracked and about half way buggered but the chrome is great.
Seller contacted and he asks for more pics and sent those with no reply ever until after 2 weeks I post negative on him and he replyed quickly and abused me saying he would have refunded my money and keep the handle for free....some people headbang.gif headbang.gif .
Sorted the mounting as I have mounting tab repair system on my handles anyway so sorted .

Installed a fuel pressure gauge from Aeromotive. One of the cool features of this gauge is that it has a vent valve on it, so that you can vent the gauge case pressure, and it will equalize the gauge back to atmospheric pressure. Supposedly, due to the oil inside of these gauges, the pressure reading can become skewed as the car warms up, variables change, etc.

After installation.... driving.gif Gauge was reading right at 3.0 psi. Felt pretty good about it. Data is good.

Thanks Oscar. This was my first real attempt at wrapping. It went better than I anticipated...that said, I probably could have wasted less material if I had "sub'd" it out. I'm trying to get practice so I can do the whole car. BTW....those are 3 absolutely gorgeous Porsches! I love the blacked out look. beerchug.gif

Started the paint restoration on a 46K mile original 76 2.0. Car was probably in storage since the 90’s, and it took three passes with a clay bar to get it to stop turning black from the oxidation and dirt. Cut polished with three different products and levels of wool pad, and then soaked all night in #7, followed by wolfgang.

The first pic was after washing and one pass of the clay bar.

Started preparing to drop the engine for the first time. Removed the engine bay lid and found the brackets damaged and a PO fix of riveting a piece of aluminum angle iron below to keep them in place. That explains why the hatch was always a bit wobbly and sitting low. I may weld in angle iron to replace the brackets themselves - unless they are bolted in behind the seat back. Either way I am not touching this bit until I have the engine out ...

Still trying to get engine clean to tear down for top-end rebuild.

Ordered front & rear engine seals, pick up soon. Prepped new impeller for installation. High-lighted 27 deg. mark with thin white paint on groove, red stripes on both sides, duplicated on pulley side. Original impeller was missing 3 blades.

Received new SS exhaust from George and is it beautiful. Great price too.

After some searching, I see the brackets are still available. Might just try to tack them back together where cracked as they seem tight to the firewall. Just need to remove the bolt very messily welded to the right bracket ...
