Installed Elephant Racing poly-bronze suspension bushes and monoball top strut mounts, along with a Quaife quick-ratio steering rack conversion. Followed this with a very fastidious laser-alignment session. The car is transformed...
Now that’s funny! ….busy watching my San Diego state Aztecs

Won't be doing much tomorrow with the cars. F1 late tonight, and then need to root on our Hawkeyes in the NCAA finals! Have to admit I'm new to women's BB but it's hard not to watch Iowa...
GO HAWKEYES!!

I have been waiting on a Pertronix for the factory six for a few weeks. They keep showing up missing the mounting plate.
I had previously replaced the oil thermostat, and pulled the distributor to install the pertroinx. Last night I put it back together with the old points so we can take it to cars and coffee tomorrow morning.
So nothing exciting.

Replaced the upper steering column bearing, which I had 'repaired' in the past with one of the 928 repair sleeves but had finally given up the ghost. Not too bad a job but I was lucky as the old bearing came out with the repair sleeve. One of those jobs I'd been putting off for ages and finally got round to.

Hood over exhaust cutouts fabed and welded in. The valance ended up just as stiff as it was before I cut two big holes in it. Plus it looks better. Bullet dodged. On to the other side of the valance to fit the flare

Welded in a new battery tray and brackets for the deck lid. Good thing the brackets are out of sight. They are not going to come off but they are not very pretty. I have mad respect for those of you who can weld. Especially on an old car and considering the contortions needed to get to the back side of things ...

Got her out of winter storage and took her for the first drive in months.
The hydraulic lifters were empty and made horrible noises for the first mile or so but once they filled with oil everything went back to normal.
Purred like a kitten ...

Pulled the teener out of winter storage.
On the way home from WCR in Oregon I had to go through a construction zone where they were oiling the road and putting cinders down. No matter how slowly & carefully I drove, it got covered with oily cinders. Although I did some initial cleanup while on my trip, there was still lots left to do. Sooo...
1. Wash at local car wash to get rid of winter crud 2. Use bug and tar remover to do the entire car 3. Wax my baby.
She looks really good!
Organized my stuff for the Route 66 Classic. I'm ready to leave tomorrow!

I lay out my complete wiring harness to my garage floor.
That is too cool. Awesome. Any chance you did a video of the process? I'd love to see that.

Thanks. I will look at youtube and see if I can figure out how to do a video. I can do another test run. I had a cell phone in the late 80’s and just got a cell phone a few years ago. My nephew told me “Come out of the cave uncle Paul” I have a phone smarter than I.

Drove 50 yesterday and 50 the day before.
And more fooling with the foglights--since they're mainly used as DRLs I installed LED H3 bulbs. They only draw 4 watts each, so that's roughly 50 watts less per bulb. Saving up for Spoke's stuff.

Took this picture today. Did too many little things that don't show. Nice day and very productive...
that looks nice, i have just purchased a GT grill like that so i am trying to decide what if any letters and badges to place. I have new metal PORSCHE gold letters, i have the Luftgekuhlt badge, and i have a bunch of werks badges etc too. not sure what direction to go. what ever it is it can be changed. maybe KISS principle and keep it clean, sometimes less is better yours looks nice.

Thank you - wasn't sure if it would look good - I will take it out a few times and see if I like it. I have a Laguna Seca vintage badge and a ADAC vintage badge too. May do some swapping.
