Finally revisiting this thread. Noticed that two conversion cars both have the same unusual wheels (mittelmotor and euro914). What are the odds?

Congrats on the new drives: Eric on that sweet GT project. JoeS on the AX beaster. (Is this Carerror?) And Madswede...er JoeO. smile.gif It's a good summer.

My stealther has been a driver all summer, getting ready for some more refinements over the winter.

I gave her a rest from me destroying. . . . .er, I mean working on her. Traveling for the next two weeks after putting the car on rollers and preparing her for winter storage. No jackstands this year. did order some parts from our suppliers.

That's all, folks!!!

It's euro911 slap.gif

The 'BB' is only a T4 2056, can't afford all the oil a -6 conversion requires laugh.gif

The ATS wheels on mine look similar to Mittelmotor's (looking straight on), but his are 5-lug and deeper dish drooley.gif

I have a set of same style unpainted 5-lug ATS wheels too, but they're 14". After checking the major players, it appears that there's actually a lot of good 14" tires still available mueba.gif ... Continental, Dunlop, General, Goodyear, Kuhmo, Michelin, Nitto, Pirelli, all pretty reasonable prices too.

As for this evening ... yanked the 'BB' off the lift and drove it to auto-shop class (40 mile round trip) smile.gif

Changed-out the main jets (to 1.45s) and took a peek at KaptKaos' transaxle leak popcorn[1].gif

When I got home, cylinder #2 is dead at idle again dry.gif ... will pull the idle jet (again) to see WTF is going on. This is the 3rd time its clogged up.

We have a clean fuel tank, new Carter pump with new filter up front, new SS fuel lines, another new filter in the engine bay and all new rubber hoses where needed confused24.gif

Looks like I may need to check the float bowls too ...
JoeSharp
Randal: Yes, that is Carerror.
Mark: That stuff that is clogging up your idle jet is coming from inside the aircleaner. Fuel dose not go through that jet, it corrects air. One gran of sand is all it takes. It comes from the base of the air filter and the air cleaner base. Make your effort there and see if that helps.
euro911
Hey Joe. It was late when I posted ... musta had mains still on my mind blink.gif

I'll blow the jet out again and check the filters. Even though the filters are new, it's possible some crap got in that one confused24.gif

I'll shoot a spritz of carb cleaner in the orifice too.

Are you Street Legal yet?

Reinstalled my transmission. Still need to add the linkage & muffler. Then it's time to go for a driving.gif

Stainless Steel kit. One of the best upgrades that I ever did!

No not yet but I'm working on it. Changed the coax on the fluax capasitor coolant resivor and it really cleaned up the front trunk.

#3 cylinder wasn't firing so I did some troubleshooting and found the plug that goes into the fuel injector, though still appearing to be seated, was not making contact. So I shimmed it with a thin piece of cardboard and hope it holds confused24.gif

Also adjusted the valves and set the timing. smile.gif

Then I drove it biggrin.gif

Had the same issue on my wife's car. If the rubber boots on the connectors are shot, they'll wiggle loose. I was lucky to get some replacement boots from MarkB. smile.gif

Pulled #2 idle jet and sure as shit, there was a clump of rubber stuck in the orifice. All gone now ... but for how long? confused24.gif

That can happen if the boots aren't stretched over the injector's connector body.

You can reshape the hollow pin connectors (ferrules) to fit the pins of the injector a little tighter. Using a small jeweler's screwdriver, work your way around the outer diameter, slightly pushing the walls of the ferrules inward towards the center. If that doesn't work, you might have to remove the ferrules from the connector body to reshape them. Having a correct size Molex pin removal tool is a plus.

I moved it into the trailer and the NARB came into the shop. Now there no cars in my yard. Does that mean I am no longer a Redneck?
euro911
WTF is a NARB? ... The V-twin?

A cute little On-Trac girl delivered a set of Pirelli P4s here this morning smile.gif

I'll be heading over to the shop in a little while, need to ship out some 'sold' parts ...

I scored another set of 2.0 Fuchs, they were cheap!
Then my $75 Piston set cam in. I unpacked them to discover that they are new KB 96mm pistons! Score!

Tracked down the problem of why my throttle was messed up and repaired it. Replaced the pedal cluster with a nice rebuilt one from Bruce Stone, had to weld a piece that was worn and wobbly. Pretty sure brake pedal was bent also. While we were in there, treated some minor surface rust under the cluster and coated the area with por-15. Everything works nicely now. aktion035.gif

Took some pics! Low light helps hide the flaws, like the semi-nasty front valance (will get LE replica at some point). I finally settled on a front ride height that's low enough to look cool and high enough to be usable. Not a single scrape on the under-car coolant hoses. Rear ride height gives decent clearance for oilpan, which extends slightly below engine beam.

I'm pleased with how the front grillework came out...not too noticeable between the bumperettes. Mesh is from a 914 engine cover, so it keeps it all consistent. Went through about 10 Dremel cut-off wheels paring it down.

Yeah, like getting the AC fixed in my Tacoma just in time for winter blink.gif

Checked out your build page. Nice project aktion035.gif

From the date on your video, looks like you already had it running earlier in the year. Why did you pull the drive train back out?

Sounds nice and quiet. Is that a Boxter muffler? confused24.gif

Also, what is the blue device in the right drive flange? ... hall effect trigger for an ECU?

By any chance, do you still have the cowl you cut the 911 dash from? I'm looking for a section to repair a rusted-out trunk seal tray in my '67 happy11.gif

Yes, it was together and running for a couple of years. Harmonic balancer blew up and the replacement threw the engine balance off and needed to be re-done. Durring tear down I discovered some major F-Up's by the previous machine shop that had to be fixed mad.gif.

Yup, a Boxster S muffler, it is quiet but does have a nice growel when you get on it.

500 highway miles and 9 hillclimb runs at Maryhill Loops Road.

Push started it too many times (heat soaked starter)!

Wiped up lots of oil ?!?!

Now it's time to find the oil leak and replace the starter.

I need to do a few things to the 'BB' (in prep for the Halloween Run), but the daily driver needed some attention first.

Changed out the front struts on the old Tacoma this evening (lower mount bushings were shot).

Why did I wait so long confused24.gif ... it handles like a new truck again driving.gif

Betsy got a clutch adjustment and we also drained the 39 yr old gear oil out of the transaxle and replaced it with fresh stuff. I then towed her home, unhooked her and took her for a short drive. It is just like driving a new 914 only with carbs. aktion035.gif

Looks good! Is that a Boxster muffler, and is there enough clearance between the transaxle and valance? Maybe with the V-6 is the engine mounts farther forward than the original?
mittelmotor
De-crustified and repainted foglight housings and rewired them, and I'm repainting front valance too.

It all started when one foglight came loose and flopped to the side, not even close to lining up with the opening of the grille. And, of course, you can't really tighten the mounting bolt without pulling the valance and bumper.

And yes, Porsche chose to use a 7-mm Allen cap-head bolt for the foglight bracket, so off to Sears for another tool! (Of course, I had the 8 & 10-mm wrenches already!)

I brought mine home from storage. I moved in June and it took that long to get the garage where I feel I could work on it again and have room for everything else in it. it is the only time in the 31 years I have owned it that it has been out of my sight. After that I replaced the brake pads on my daughters 08 Rabbit washed it and changed the oil and filled it with gas. Id prefer to spend the 200$ elsewhere but she does have her daddy wrapped around her little finger slap.gif
