Reharvey,
Do you have other pics of the mounting hole or instructions how to mount the spoiler? I have one and I can't seem to figure it out yet. It looks like it will touch the fender and damaged the paint when closed. Any advice?

The rear spoiler takes a lot of fitting to get it right. I've installed five of these and they've all been difficult in one way or another. The part that overhangs the fender needs trimmed away so that it doesn't touch. You need enough space between them so they don't hit while driving over bumps. So that means at least a 1/6 or more. In the picture you'll see blue tape under this area. I leave that on until I'm sure the two don't hit when driving. If they do then it'll take the paint off of the fender. I mount them with three screws. One under the latch and the other two under the rubber bump stops. Good luck, Ray PS contact me if you need more info

Spent last night rebuilding a handful of auxiliary air regulators. Finally have a good process down that isn't too destructive and leaves a nice finished product. Still need to work on the aesthetics of re-assembling the steel lip. Early this morning I dreamed that some anonymous donor left me a garage full of two 914s in rough shape, and one of them was a factory six. I remember staring the motor in the bay and being super excited about having such a great project ... right up until the alarm went off.

Finally, I have something to add to this thread.

Today, after almost 3yrs after being rebuilt, I put the 2.4E+ in my 914-6. Long story that got me to this point but I'm finally on my way to getting the car going again. Motor is a warmed over 2.4E and will be running MFI and a programmable electronic ignition system. All of the fuel system work and ignition system work is done. Tomorrow I'll begin connecting all of the systems between the motor and the car and prepping for start up.

There is just something about white 914's that i like, had a white 76 once, I've had red, black, phoenix red, and signal orange and if i got another i think i would want it to be white.....or green or blue......or white......
Nice looking car! I plan to drive mine tomorrow...... piratenanner.gif

Rummaged around in the shop yesterday evening ... loaded up some parts to take to the G&R next weekend.

Also, pre-glued some new [thicker] 914rubber.com rocker arm cover gaskets into a freshly painted set of covers and placed them on a spare set of heads to cure. Will install them on the 'BB' today ... maybe

Since my 914 kinda fell into my lap a couple weeks ago I have been scrambling to get the current shop project out of the shop. It will weather the New England weather better. So:

I pressed bearings and rubicon retainers onto a dana 44 rearend axle shafts for my '91 Jeep Wrangler. This is nearly the culmination of an axle swap/gear change/rear disc conversion to the thing.

So, I guess in truth, I patted my poor 914 on the way to my shop to work on a Jeep.

Baby steps maybe, but I am trying...

Might have to leave for a 60-90 day work trip in 2 fridays so it is either scramble to put the jeep together or buy a marshmallow tent to store the car in.

Wife is bummed too because she wants her miata in the shop for the winter and knows the teen will trump that every year.

On the plus side she wants to throw money at the porsche so we can enjoy it next spring.

Beautiful Fall afternoon for a drive and stop next to a signal orange tree for a picture....

I was able to take my -6 out for a beautiful drive with the fall colors in Wisconsin. Then filled her up with ethanol-free gasoline and Sta-Bil.

Now, if the weather turns bad sooner than expected, she should be ready. Next, put her up on jack stands, change the oil and bleed the brakes. Hook up the BatteryTender and wait for spring!

I drove mine for the first time in weeks! Couple projects to do over the winter but it actually ran pretty well considering the non-use recently. I'm not going a week without driving mine from now on...just too much fun:)

Actually, I treated some surface rust on the belly pan of the 'BB' last Friday and undercoated it today:

Tomorrow, I'll lower it down to the ground, start it up, and see if the new fat 'valve' cover gaskets I installed last week stopped the oil leak. If so ... hoping to take it on the Halloween Run driving.gif

Also, will be stocking the shelves with parts I bought at the G&R smile.gif ... as well as restocking all the stuff that didn't sell dry.gif

I didn't, so mine's still full of $*!( ... laugh.gif

'BB' is still up on the lift, it didn't want to start last night dry.gif

Put a charger on the battery, and since I haven't located a replacement passenger-side glass rocker panel yet, I removed the driver side, cleaned up both longs and sprayed under-coating on them. Guess I'll run without rocker panels for a while confused24.gif

Under-coating should be dry enough to test drive it sometime today driving.gif

Also, cleaned up a little oil residue in the engine bay and checked the wire to the oil temp gauge. Gauge checked out OK. It hasn't registered any movement since we installed the new drive train, so looks like the taco sensor might be bad. Fresh Brad Penn 20/50 with only 700 miles in there now ... so I'll wait until it's time to change the oil to replace the sensor.

Punched a few holes. Gotta love that greenlee die set! Had to make my own flange die to go big enough but that was pretty easy

More work on the 'BB' today.

Finally bolted my 'temporary' EMPI oil breather to the firewall (it was Ty-Wrapped in for the RT-66 Run and flopping around, spilling oil everywhere) dry.gif ... and re-routed the hoses.

Readjusted the front suspension height.

I found the problem with my oil temp gauge issue. The wire was disconnected from the spade terminal at the sensor, but was still crimped on to the jacket blink.gif ... installed a new terminal smile.gif

With the battery all charged up, started it up and checked for oil leaks. NONE mueba.gif
914Rubber.com valve cover gaskets are 'BB' approved laugh.gif ... Thanks Mark beerchug.gif

Around midnight, hopped on the Harbor Fwy and drove several miles south, then back to the shop to check it out. Still needs some carb fine tuning dry.gif

Had another clogged idle jet, cylinder #3 this time. I really need to find out where this crud is coming from mad.gif

The tank is clean, there's a new Carter pump & filter under the tank, new SS fuel lines, all new hoses (the expensive stuff) and there's another filter in the engine bay confused24.gif

Put the car back on the lift, swept the shop floor and came home. It's 4:30am - good night yellowsleep[1].gif
