Seat belt interlock relay IIRC. doesn't let the car start unless you have your seat belt safely fastened and all hands and arms are safely inside the vehicle at all times. Most have been bi-passed over the years.
I believe mine is bypassed then - it's always started without clicking the seat belts since I've owned it. I'll just insulate the ends of the loose wiring. Thanks Ethan.

i just wanted to start a thread to see what you guys do day to day on your cars.
i'll start,
about a month ago, i pulled my engine and trans to put in a new clutch. had the flywheel lightened and resurfaced. but what i didnt know is that i had to shim the little ball that the clutch arm rides on, after a resurfacing. so guess what i did today?
yup, pulled the trans and put an extra washer under the ball. you have to goop up both washers to get it to seal because the threaded hole goes all the way thru to the inside of the trans. i also replaced the plastic cup that the ball rides in. the throwout bearing and its little plastic blocks were fine so i buttoned every thing back up. 5 hours total. i think this has been the cheapest repair yet on my car. $2.75 for the little plastic cup.
what did you do to your 914 today?
Today I got my new set of Goodyear slicks mounted on my track wheels. The Fronts are 245/40-17 & Rears are 315/35-17. I can hardly wait for the next track day!

I wish I knew what the dual exhaust was! There are no logos and it is way bigger than anything I have ever seen!
SS 2 3/4" twins with 1 5/8" headers and is sounds sweet!
I bought it from a 911 3.0L Turbo guy in LA for $200!

It looked like a Triad from the installed-in-the-car pic, but your additional pic confirmed otherwise.
I picked up a Triad for a big-bore 6, was going to modify a header system to mate up to my 2056, but ended up getting a good deal on a smaller unit for a 2.0L 4 from Kevin (kconway). Hoping to get it installed within the next couple of weeks!

Perhaps sunday or monday I'll attack the hell hole with the twisted wire brush. I've had the engman hellhole kit since 2009. I guess I'm keeping this car so I might as well install it. Then I'll attack the passenger long with the parts from RD.

Hi there
Upgrade the front shocks to bilstein. That was a pita because the flex brake line seems to be very short.
I had to unhook both sides of the felx line to get some extra play.
It's also hard to compress the shocks to get the metal protective "cup" over it if you do it alone. I would like to have three hands.
In addition to that I started to disassemble the dash to get the face plate off.

Got a fair amount done today.
Cut some offending metal off of a PO-fabbed bracket that was partially blocking one of the fuel line holes in the firewall. Broke three Dremel cutoff discs in the process
Click to view attachmentSprayed a second coat of rubberized under-coating to the passenger compartment side of the rear firewall (for sound deadening, since I'm not reinstalling the stock upholstered back-pad). Eventually, it will get covered with some perlon carpeting.

I took the 914 out of the enclosed trailer were it was stored since late August after painting and moved it inside the shop to start the assembly process, I'm waiting on the carbon fiber pieces from Getty Design and the engine case from Car Craft which is getting lined bored, clearance for the new crank, new Chevy journals, all components are being pre fit and compression set to 9.5 to 1 before engine gets blue printed, balanced and then final assembly. Today was a good day!

I too have the same ATS wheels(in silver). Its nice to see something other than Fuchs, Pedrinis, and Rivieras on a teener. If only I can find a set of center caps.

ATS center caps are available ... but once the car is moving, nobody can read the letters anyway.

Last Monday I finished the front sway bar install and reinstalled the freshly cleaned out fuel tank and SS fuel lines.
Sunday I cut out the passenger side engine shelf and battery tray.
It used to have AC so the shelf had been notched for the compressor. After a little TLC in the hell hole I fitted and welded in the new shelf and the battery tray support.
It was a long day spent in the engine compartment but it's over now!
BTW, the $4.99 spot weld remover bit from Harbor Freight worked great! I would recommend it if you don't already have one and plan on removing body panel.

Jeff, which sway bar mounts are you welding?
... the triangular mounts, or the tabs on the A-arms?
Planning to start my sway bar installation next week
Yesterday, repaired a seat adjuster (new pull ring from 914Rubber.com), and installed the rails on a pair of seats that I purchased from Jim Hoyland:

Did a little interior work today.
Removed, scrubbed and painted door the panels with tan vinyl spray.
Assembled the 'new' center console (was in several pieces) installed the gauges and mocked it up in the car.
Reinstalled the door panels and temporarily installed the seats (just to see what a tan interior looks like in my car).
Click to view attachmentI did the the color change mainly to decrease the interior temperatures on those hot summer days, but I also wanted more contrast against the black exterior (interior has always been black).

Thanks Robert. How's your progress going up on the mountain? Are you going to be ready for this years' Big Bear run?
I was just out looking around in the garage, finally found the roll of extra tan carpet I got when I bought the Appbiz carpet kit a few years ago
I'll try to get the firewall carpet fitted tomorrow. I'd like to finish off the top of the carpet with some aluminum channel (just under the rear window ledge).
I plan to use the rest of the carpet to recover the door panels and the targa headliner at some point in the future.
