I bought a generic windshield washer pump and a momentary pushbutton switch from O'Reilly's last week. I fabricated a bracket from scraps and a hose clamp and mounted the pump on the reservoir 10mm bolt two days ago. Last night I connected the rubber hoses and wired the switch, tapping power from the rear window defroster switch on the dash.

This morning I mounted the switch on the dash in the unused switch hole to the right of the steering wheel. (While horribly uncomfortable on my back with nose up under the dash, flashlight in mouth, I discovered there are 4 holes in the dash to the left of the column and three to the right. If they are not occupied by a switch, they are covered by basketweave. Hmmm...what else can I put in here? maybe a starter switch? Cool.)

I pushed the button and it pumped water. I re-aimed the squirters. Then I turned the key and WENT FOR A NICE LONG DRIVE! Its 100 F and windy today and I doubt I'll need the squirters till it rains in the Fall. But its done.

If you want to do it right, get a pump from a 911 and a WW column switch from a 924. There is a write up on PP and probably one here too and it doesn't look any harder. I think the "git-er-done" bug got me and I had to do it my way. But its done and works fine.

Down to one running car, So been driving the white 914 to location (work)...I hate LA traffic headbang.gif But it really draws a bunch of cool looks. Also my brother wants to trade me a car cover.....that sort of fits my car..Click to view attachment

Took her out for a cruise.....really nice weather...top off.

Gotta put it in the garage for the rear suspension rebuild....parts on the bench ready to go.

Need to make the RRC or for sure the Halloween Run....complete rebuild on the back end I'm sure it will make the car feel so different after 40 years on the original bushings. Gonna ditch the Kill Ya Back shocks finally for some Billeys!

Last weekend I got a great Father's Day gift from my son Mike. He pulled the ignition switch assembly, both door locks, and the front hood handle from his parts car. They came with an almost brand new looking key.

My ignition switch had refused to turn a few days before, and when it did turn the car would run, but the starter had stopped engaging. Today I installed the entire set and confirmed that the electrical portion of the ignition switch had developed a crack.

For the first time in years, my teener now has the same key for ignition and doors. Still gotta rekey the remaining two locks.

Also installed an LED license plate light on the 914Rubber fiberglass bumper top, so now I can drive at night again.

I installed my MSD 6AL and re-did my switch box for cutoff and ignition switch as well as starter button yesterday. I was ready to get it wired today but it's POURING... and looks like it will continue to all week. I want a garage hissyfit.gif

Mid-trip inspection... nothin' wrong but brake dust noise. Wheels back on and drive. Turns out the guy behind the counter at a local FLAPS had had both a 924 and a '74 914 in the past. Wishes he hadn't sold the 914... never heard that before.

At the same time a 944 drove up and the National Guard guy who owns it wants to go drivin' after he gets off of work tomorrow afternoon.

Got the 2258 from FAT Performance hung finally. First time I've ever done an engine drop or install in one of these cars. What a PIA. There is no room at all in the engine bay of this car. I will buy a scissor lift and go to a full tube frame if I ever need to drop this motor..

IPB Image

It's nowhere near ready to start, but I put it on the ground just to see what it looked like on wheels. It's been on jackstands or a shop dolly for almost 2 yrs. This is the only pic I have for now. I'll take another when the lighting is a little better in the garage.

My son Nolan and I drove the /6 to the Palo Alto concours at the San Mateo expo center. A white 1971 1.7 and a red 914-6 were on display. Nice cars all around. I also picked up a certificate for an Audi driving experience at sears point at their silent auction. I now have to pick up a second one as my wife, Kathy, want to also drive the track. driving.gif driving-girl.gif

The red car had the rockers and both front and rear valances powered coated with a satin finish that looked great. The owner had a guy in Lodi fix the car as it was once hit on the drivers side and needed a lot of work. Great body and paint work.

Not a damned thing. Cursed heat wave. I did do a bunch of good reading for the Suby transformation and got to HF early and pu a $34 engine stand. It will be worth the $$ just to be able to rotate and access the bottom of the engine when fitting up motor mounts.

Mounted my 73 steering column to the 70 tub. Lots of cutting and grinding in the heat and humidity! sawzall-smiley.gif

Pretty much any color you can think of, can be obtained by a simple button on the remote. I'm taking this a step further, no matter what color you choose, I'm building a control that changes the gauge color to yellow at a certain RPM then to RED at redline. I also have a special input for low fuel that will turn all the gauges to red when triggered. This special input can be configured for anything, low fuel, thrown fan belt, or even wired to a radar detector!

Cut out the headlight buckets with a plasma cutter for the front oil coolers.
Lowered it off of jackstands.
It had been up there for 3 years!

It sounds great with the 4-1 header and supertrapp!
Webcam 86b, dual 40 IDFs.
All new custom electrical harness.
High torque starter
Sideshift upgrade w/ all new linkage bushings
Jake's valvetrain kit, new P&Cs, balanced.
Rear suspension ears repaired and reinforced.
Ground control rears w/ adjustable perches.
Newly rebuilt brakes all the way around.
CF dash, Innovate-LC-1 AFR gauge, dual EGTs & CHT w/ Innovate-TC-4 monitor, VDO oil press & Temp

Drove it around the block twice and parked it back in the garage.
Nailed the shifter adjustment on the first try!
Now checking out the suspension & getting ready for ride height adjust & alignments!

They sure look a lot smaller sitting on the ground instead of 2 feet in the air ;-)

I'll get pics once the front bumper is back on.

VROOM!

Put on Pilot driving lights. Took car to Shelton, WA car show (didn't win). Drove it in the heat with the top off, night drive with the wife on Saturday and Sunday day drive with my daughter. Thing is running like a champ after my early June break down. piratenanner.gif

Due up is some wiring work and I'm thinking the new multi-colored gauges are cool!

I kept it's place in the garage warm while I'm getting paint/body done.

This picture gives an idea of how skinny/steep my driveway is!!!

I wish this car was mine, but I'm helping my brother on the restoration of it as he doesn't have a garage.

I did get some nice update on the progress of the welding and work being done on my car...I'll have to post a thread later.

Reinstalled the horn part of the steering wheel and drove it to work for the very first time as I now have a parking spot 40 feet from the door! Security sees it on the closed circuit TV, and the parking lot is physically patrolled plus its where security guys go for a smoke! I had to go outside a couple of times with people who wanted to see it. My favourite part of my job now is the drive to and from work.

tossed in the koni yellow adjustables in the rear that I picked up at the walker swap meet a couple years ago.

they came with some progressive springs that I thought were the same that I had but these were an inch taller and the paint stripe was silver with a green paint dot with 2 indents at the top of one end not gray stripe like the others.
