Went through all the wiring connections; with contact cleaner, female connections, shrink wrap, and anti-corrosion battery spray. smile.gif

agree.gif i think this is a fantastic practice for our cars. every time i unplug a connector i put a dab of loctite dielectric grease on it before i plug it in... sure save a lot of headaches. and it makes the electrical devices work better. its a win win.

Nothing on I my 914 today but drove 400 miles with a haul car hauler to go see inspect and maybe buy a 74 914, but 20 miles from my exit I stopped to get gas, and pulling off the freeway my '07 navigator just quit running. It either the fuel pump or brain.
WTF.gif

But I will be doin piratenanner.gif g a P.P.I. tomorrow, and if all checks out I might be brining home another 914!!!
piratenanner.gif
But I was not planning on driving it home -with but we will see.

Good thing for AAA, and 100 mile towing.! Also the dealership and mechanic is 1open mile from the hotel and 2 miles from the car.
Any other 914 guys in Chattanooga, Tn?

Went to Cars and Coffee with my dad. It was nice to see him, and talk about just stuff at breakfast afterwards.

Then took the top off this afternoon and cruised Mission in Pomona and grabbed some tacos. Good day I'd say

NICE sixnotfour. was that the one that was for sale a month or so ago. Very nice Teener either way. Looks like Pa. Tags?

Today I replace all my fuses and pulled the steering wheel to realign it after I had put it on off center after I replaced the ingition switch last week. Also broke the horn wire tab again in doing so. I'll fix that tomorrow. This time I'm going to make a clip on tab and see if it will work.

Took a nice ride around South Central York Conty Pa. before the weather set in. Car runs great but been having problems with ignition. Pretty much think it was the "74 logic relay by-pass. I had bridged the two large yellow wires to by pass the seatbelt relay but I think the bridged connection was causing my ignition problems. I redid the bridge and the ignition seems to be fine today, fires up every time. crossing fingers and hope so.

Did some more piddly items today. Finished running the SS fuel lines all the way up through the engine shelf (with some of those nifty grommets that Racer Chris sells), started cleaning up under the fuel tank and front trunk area (still need to deal with the gaping hole from the removed air conditioning condenser). I also installed some carpet to hide the visible crap under the cowl.

Attempted to install some carpet on the firewall. I think I bit off more than I can chew, ain't going to be as easy as I thought blink.gif

Removed the front bumper to deal with non-working horns ... and confirmed what I've always suspected - the PO did not install any dog-bones when back-dating the bumpers. Removed stock horns and installed a set of [extremely loud] air horns smile.gif

Painted my windshield wiper arms and the engine lid grilles, and mounted an '86 Corvette third brake light assembly to the lid.

Also, applied a second coat of paint to the front valance. This time I used a textured rubber undercoating spray (to cover up my piss-poor metal reshaping skills) laugh.gif The texture of the paint is very similar to the targa top's texture.

Not my wife.. She notices everything about our cars, including when I put a sticker on her 914 one time. That caused a hell of a fight.... chair.gif

Now I ask permission to modify her 914. But there are advantages. I got her seat belts for her 914 last Christmas, and a new dash pad and knee pad the year before.

So I did my last DE event with the green car back in November, I think. Car has been sitting in the garage since then, literally collecting dust (from a bathroom remodeling job in the basement). So today, I took her outside, washed her, filled the tank, added some Sta-Bil and took her for an hour long ride on the highway.

That is the first 914 I ever saw, ever rode in, ever drove, and ever fixed. And after 26 years, and 335,000 miles, all three of us are still together. I would not trade her for anything. wub.gif Along the way, I got my 914, but this will be forever HER car, and I will do anything to keep it running for her.

Some times I think she just married me to get free 914 repairs. But then I remember she did the work herself for a LONG time.

Yes she is taller than I am. But it doesn't bother her at all. Frankly it doesn't bother me either. Except when she backs the seat in the car up and I can't reach the pedals.

And I had a girlfriend in high school that was over 6 ft. She was a point guard on the basketball team. Last I heard she married some guy who is shorter than I am.
